I found this link on the Frontier Sixshooter Board. The shooter fired a cylinder full then reloaded and fired a few more. Unbelievable! Carl

Wow!
My cousin did that once. A dog had got into his barn and was after his chickens, so he took his .357 BH with him and shot at it point blank. The dog yelped, but that was it. Dan noticed the first round wasn't very loud, but didn't pay much attention to it because he was so pissed, and kept shooting. Finally the last round blew the cylinder off along with the ejector rod and housing. When he got back to the house he saw a bulge in the barrel with a little split in it. Next day he went back out to the barn and found most of the parts and sent the whole thing to Ruger with an explanation of what happened.
This was when they moved some operations out to Prescott. A couple of months later he got his gun back like new and reblued. They said there was 5 bullest stuck in the barrel. Cost $75.00!! ;D

The local gun store has a bbl that looks exactly like the photo above. It was from an semi auto. The barrel is cut completely in half but looks very similar.....

Just goes to show that if it sounds wrong or recoils funny then maybe you just might have a problem.

If you have a habit of shooting double taps, I can see where an accident could happen easily.

What w/focus on the shooting, it can go unoticed like someone walking in front of the target. Another thing is electronic muffs work w/normal muzzle reports but may not w/squibs but can sound the same.

YEs, however anytime I've lit off a squib (and I've done it more than once for various reasons) it's felt different under recoil, as in there ain't been much.

Dang! We are all lucky our guns have a heck of a safety margin built in.

I'm curious if something like that cuts the top strap - the gas has nowhere else to get out.

I'm curious if something like that cuts the top strap - the gas has nowhere else to get out. i kind of doubt that it would contribute to gas cutting simply because there probably wasn't much gas at all. unfortunately i have seen what "NORMALLY" happens. one slug gets stuck and then the next has a full charge of powder. then if you're real lucky both slugs go downrange and the result is a bulged spot in the barrel. i seriously doubt that any one of the 5 cartridges fired in this case had enough powder to get one slug out the muzzle

I remember reading ni one of the reloading magazines years ago (and I do mean years, I thin kI was still in junior High) about someone dumping a whole cargo of the wrong powder into something like 250 rds of pistol ammo and it doing that, velocity wasn't enough to overcome surface friction between the bullet and the bore and get it down his long barrelled revolver.
