Man, that looks too clean! Did someone not appreciate that gun in the past or is it that new? New and no lock? Something I never thought of before, but the stubby ejector rods on those always made me wonder a bit if they'd ever pose a problem, BUT the 9mm case being so short kind of negates the worry. Very nice revolver! Jeff I’ve never shot a 9mm DA, but I’d also imagine the tapered case on the 9mm would also help clear the chambers. Or not?

Gun is not marked +p and did not come with an owner's manual. My 642 is marked +p. I'm thinking that if I needed +p performance I'd pull out the 357 640.

940s were cleared for standard pressure 9MM only, no plus Ps and no +P+s. Guys shooting the "hot stuff" previously mentioned shot them loose in fairly short order. S&W did a recall on them at one time and then suspended manufacture. Hope this helps.

Little gun shoots dead on at 25 feet with Blazer 115s. Good trigger.. TK Custom provided a few moon clips.

That is a clean example! The three I've seen in the wild were rode hard and put up wet being there role as a backup. Nice score.

Browsed a bit on the S&W forum and it looked like this model was a problem child. Since I'd already played with Ruger LCR 9mm I wasn't concerned. Just the mass of an all steel gun fixed anything I might have been concerned with. Watched a Taurus 9mm snub revolver display the crimp jumping issue just last week.

Had one of the 940s probably 15 years ago... Big problem with +P ammo was cylinder lockup... Same with the LCRs. Had both a 2" and one of the rare 3" guns and both would lock up with +P ammo.
Much better round for these little guns would be the .38 Super. Have a 649, 60-10 and 66-2/3" all with Super cylinders and no problems at all with anything shot in them so far...

I've had two 940s over the years. The first one had chamber issues and went back to S&W to have the chambers rebored. The second one was okay but I didn't have a great way to carry moonclips without bending them in my pocket so I went back to 38s and plastic speedloaders. IIRC, the muzzle flip was pretty objectionable with both of them. I almost had the second one Magnaported to teach it some manners.
