The 45 Auto Rim is a blessing for those of us who shoot 45 ACP revolvers and hate moon clips. I've tried a lot of the clip tools and many of them work well but when I pick up my 45 ACP wheelguns I grab 45AR..

Yup, no 45 anything here, but HKS's for the Bulldog, Colt P.P. and the wife's SP101 here. OG stuff !

A firearm being something I may need to bet my life on, I try to eliminate critical dependencies like moon clips.

Like everything else out there, a well made object is much better than one which is not. Your choice makes all the difference. A well made full moon clip is about the fastest reload possible.

Can't claim to "hate 'em," because I've always avoided them.
If loaded clips were supplied to me (reliably) and I didn't have to pick them up when the cartridges were expended, it would be different, I think.
The way I've always looked at them is that they add two more steps in preparing loaded ammo, and neither step looked fun. Added to that, the presence of tools (more tools to mind) to make those two steps easier indicated to me that those two steps are NOT necessarily fun.
When I used to shoot with other people, they'd look at me funny when I told them I could reload my muzzle-loader faster than they could reload their semi-autos.
There are fewer steps, but yes, you do them all "on site," as you shoot each round - no preparation in advance. Someone's got to do that at some point so you can recharge your arm later and somewhere else. I've always been very conscious of the time and effort (and other resources) to prepare fixed ammo for anything I shoot. It's not always a chore and not always quick and easy, but I am always making the comparison as I load for whatever it is I'm loading for at the moment.

I don't have anything that would take the Autorim cases anymore... But I never had seen the speedloaders... I always prefered the Autorim cases to the moon clips, might still have one around, if I had seen the speed loaders

There's no practical difference between a speed loader or a moon clip when it comes to high stress combat reloading. You just drop the speed loader. Trying to pocket it takes time. Pick it up later when practicing. Forensics will get it later if it's the real thing.
I use Safariland push in to release loaders. Extremely fast to use.

I understand that many folks don't care for moon clips. That's fine. But I always chuckle in a USPSA match,, watching those bottom feeding shell shuckers sling cases everywhere & the guys looking all over trying to find their brass. My moons keep my brass together & easily found.
