Good grief guys that’s a whole bunch of sexy pics of American mfg. I have Rugers and Smiths, but must say there hasn’t been a Ruger I’ve owned or handled that seemed as refined or detail oriented as a Smith, especially these older ones. Mind you I love my Ruger guns and appreciate their design and robustness, but….

45MAN, I can’t argue that, I don’t own any old Colts, but I’d love to. I guess my point originally was that as good and repeatable modern mfg makes Rugers, they are missing the “soul” the older designs had with their hand craftsmanship. My heart would pick the old colts or S&W to enjoy, and a Ruger if my life and livelihood always rested on it.

owen67: I HAVE SEVERAL PRE-WAR S&W 1905's, MOSTLY 4th CHANGE, IN 32-20 AND 38 SPECIAL, AND YES THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL REVOLVERS WITH A LOT OF SOUL. I MADE MY COMMENT BECAUSE THE PRE-WAR COLT OFFICIAL POLICE IS OFTEN OVERLOOKED AND/OR NOT KNOWN ABOUT, AND THE COLT OFFICIAL POLICE, AND ITS COUSIN THE OFFICERS MODEL, WERE THE PREDECESSORS TO THE PYTHON, THE 1905 SMITHS WERE THE PREDECCORS TO THE MODEL 10 AND OTHER K FAME SMITHS.
