No reason not to send the grip frame. He turns it around very quickly and doesn't charge extra to fit if I recall correctly. Not why I asked the question…..

Another shout out! I had him make a set made for my Blackhawk. Simple but elegant for this workhorse. Like the way they fit on the frame and in my hand. When I get another Blackhawk I will be doing the same as this one. I like the looks and durability of the ironwood. He is a great person to deal with and turn around time was FAST. Sent the grip frame for a near perfect fit.

I've sent several frames to Chig's to be fitted. Buckeye burl, maple burl, walnut, and others. New and old model Blackhawks, bfr, and freedom arms. All came back well fitted and finished. No complaints.
All my single actions wear Chig's except two that Ronnie Wells fitted for me. Tamarind and tiger maple.

Chad has done 13 sets for me and fitted each one to a gripframe. I have another one I'll be sending to him soon. Some ironwood blanks are calling my name.

THAT is a nice knife, Sir! I'm not saying I have better taste than others, or know more than anyone, but I AM extremely hard to please when it comes to knives and I like that one. No useless "features," useful size and extremely tasteful done. Nice work.
You guys are making me feel very guilty about having a mismatched set of factory walnut on my favorite SA (5.5" Flat Top 44 Special), which fit me and work just fine.
I'm succumbing to the urge to put nicer wood on this otherwise wonderful sixgun, I fear. It has a bare aluminum XR3-RED grip frame on it and it wouldn't hurt it one bit to have someone match up the wood to metal interface.
Dang it, man! I HATE feeling guilty like that.

Chig's will also do horn, stag and fossil ivory.
I'm saving up for a set of Mastodon grips and some matching scales for the Bowie now.

I have a few sets of Chig’s grips, and for the life of me I don’t know why some of them aren’t desert ironwood. That’s a serious lapse in judgement that I feel must be rectified.

Chad just made a set of Desert Ironwood Birdshead grips for the “Sheriff’s Model” that I’m having built. They look fantastic ! You’ll have to take my word for it because I can’t post pictures from my iPad. Even if I could I put them and the grip frame in the mail this morning.
