Thanks for the cool recollection Mr. Bradshaw. I remember when the 629s were announced, to us Smith guys they were greatly anticipated and we waited for so long to see the first 629s in 4" to appear. Mine went in my duty holster. Actions were rough, but polishing bearing surfaces helped a lot.

"Gun looks literally unfired." I'd have to agree. Note only every other chamber has flash marks. Always heard that indicated factory test fired "only". True or not, nice piece. Then again, you already knew that, huh?

I have a pretty mint 4" and similar 6" bought some years ago. I don't recall ever shooting them thinking about it. I have passed on a few 8 3/8" ones and probably should have bought one to complete the "collection".

Then again, you already knew that, huh? ***** I watched some test firing at the factory of Roosevelt Avenue. Fast double action of factory .357 Mag in the Model 19----not blue pills. Hand held; the shooter pushed revolver into a V-rest, emptying gun inside two seconds. Don’t manner of test firing the M29/629; a cylinder full, not sure whether standard magnum or blue pill. During that period, Sturm, Ruger test fired full-up with proofs. David Bradshaw
