So my wife's gal pal's husband has an oval track at their farm... 15-20 guys get together and race there... a couple years ago now MRS. bought me a starter car ( these other guys are totally into this stuff )... in 2 years, I've finally run a battery down, chasing the outside doggie around... my trouble is, if I get into something, it's usually totally into the "rabbit hole"... so I'm resisting, but I have half a plan for a practice track at home, & have Hoosier tires marked on my puter... 1st thing I'd have to do is buy more batteries, & make the switch to the lipo batteries, which are also pinned on my laptop
I'd more easily fall down the rabbit hole if I could find a body shell to match the "real" 1960 El Camino I own... but the 1st gen Camino's were only made for 2 years, & it doesn't appear that an RC body for the 1st gen Camino is available
anyway... any of you guys got a "lil" car habit???

Rabbit hole? Let's see anything from 1/18th scale to 1/8th scale ebuggy. Dirt offroad, oval and carpet oval and roadcourse. They are all race rigs. No toys, they get run on various tracks. Used to have a sponsorship, now just race for "fun."

Closest I get is wanting to have a chassis to attach a charging bear target to it because all the reasonably priced movers available don’t move fast enough to simulate an actual charging bear or buff.

Mine is I think 1/10 scale 1/8th is the biggest I have. Then 1/10th, 1/12th, and last 1/18th scale. Used to own a 1/4 scale that used a modified 2 cycle motor.

I have a drag race friend that has gotten into it and has built minis of his real race car, it looks temping, but so far, I am content to watch him race, both real car and rc cars.

I have three off road electric motor trucks that I used to run regularly but only for fun. In the years since I built them I've let the batteries kill my radios. But since I retired I'd like to upgrade them and have them throwing dirt everywhere again. Nice topic for a new thread. Thanks!!

At a lil car museum I belonged to (less than 200 members) they would do the electric cars first then bring out the gas LeMans style cars..... BIG difference back then. Like a VW bug to a full race Porsche.........
The owner was a racer and he’d let them have GTGs there of all time goes of cars.
When there was a Dodge GTG he’d bring out his Type 35 Bugatti and wanna race them around the course.......a museum piece. But he’d be reving that thing and having a ball. Loved all cars.
I ramble some times ......loved the RC cars

What sort of rig are you runnin? I only dabble, Have a pair of Axial Jeeps that a daughter and I run on occasion, kids are so busy these days?! Did manage to find a square body stepside Chevy shell that I am taking my time painting. If you get serious into it, can always look at someone building a body out of polystyrene for you, or somebody may have a 3D printed El Camino. I had to do a lot of research when I got back into this, last RC I ran had a mechanical speed control!

I’m currently not too into it I just have a fully upgradeable 2 WD generic truck, with a brushed motor… back when I used to fo a lot of Jeeping a lot of the guys had rc trucks like their full sized rigs… the track available is a dirt tri oval, he just switched it from a standard oval… I’m thinking about making it more not more of a dirt stock car… but I have a 2016 SS sedan, I only show, and not that often… shows can be pretty boring to a “real” car guy… maybe if I had one that looked like my SS… it would liven up the car shows… so either way I’m not set in stone what I want to do

I dont quite understand what this means. Ive always had an interest in RC cars/trucks but never explored it by buying one. This thread has peaked my interested again. A car for Christmas may be in order for my and I to mess with.
