I picked this one up a couple of years ago for $500. Crazy the quality of the build relative to a Ruger DA.

Very interesting. I shoot a 19-3. I was under the impression that the dash 3 was the last p&r'ed model 19.

Looks like there are times in the transition that stuff gets mixed...
This job is a money loss proposition... You quickly learn that you can't have EVERYTHING that catches your eye.

Some of the lingo escapes me: * “crazy the quality”----crazy good? crazy bad? * "p&r’ed”----pressed & rolled? purchased & returned? David Bradshaw

Not sure about “crazy “ but P & R normally is pinned and recessed.

Just need to remove the Ruger hat and put on your S&W hat and it will all make sense..

Beautiful weapon. Thank you for the pictures. I can see why you say "handled" and not "purchased".

I have 4 inch Model 19 no dash. I like it real well, but I trust my Ruger's to handle any load I care to feed it , x 50 a day for a long long time. I baby the Smith...tj

I have a 19-3 2.5 with a red ramp, target hammer and target trigger. It was shipped in July of 1977. I can’t imagine what a sight to be seen it was back then. Unfortunately time is not kind to nickel. Mine was definitely shot and carried but it’s still a very nice gun

I have a 19-2 that is a near twin to the OP and a blue 4” 19-4. Owned both for many years and both saw off duty carry when in uniform back in the dark ages of the 70’s and 80’s.

Nice, but not at that price for me. I've had a nice blued 4" loaded 19-3 in my history that I bought new. Nope, never at that price.

I was under the impression that the dash 3 was the last p&r'ed model 19. According to the S&W bible 19-4 started in 1977 . The 19-5 started in 1982 and was where they lost the P&R (pinned and recessed).
