I am looking to expand my limited knowledge on custom Colt single actions. Hoping that the knowledge of the folks here can help me in this endeavor.
Looking for any information; be it book titles, names to research, websites etc... I am most interested in the interwar period. However, any information is welcome.
Thanks, Jonathan.

I second 45mans suggest and would add John Taffin’s book Single Action Sixguns.

Look up John Taffin's six-guns website. He has a lot of articles and info there and you will find some specifically on Colt SAA.

Great suggestions Gentlemen. I have both of those books along with a few other books of Mr. Taffin’s; Big Bore Handguns, Big Bore Sixguns, Book of the .44 and Book of the .45. Those books along with the writings of Keith and others have whetted my apatite for more knowledge on this subject.

I had totally forgotten about the Kuhnhausen books. I have them for 1911 and Ruger single actions (both old & new model). Thanks JM, that definitely goes on the list to acquire.

The King Gun Sight Co. did a lot of custom work on Colts. Some of their mods are described and illustrated in the book "Home Gunsmithing the Colt Single Action Revolvers" by Loren W. Smith. It's a must-have book for anyone interested in Colts.

Bowen's book is excellent and unique. Used ones are expensive but well worth it.

If you can find one...it will be pricey.
A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver by Ron Graham, John A. Kopec, et al.
Mainly directed to the collector, this book is a wealth of information about generations, markings, etc.
