I decided to order a pair some time ago, turns out my dealer wasn’t setup to buy from Lipseys. It took him quite a while to get his account going....it seems in this time of booming sales they don’t get to excited about taking on new dealers. A result of all this was a call and me picking up the 4 5/8 44 today......the 5 ½ still to come.

I don't have one, matter of fact I haven't even seen on in central IL yet. But then I don't get out much any more.

I ordered a 5-1/2" model the day after they were announced. My dealer called about a month or so ago and said he could get me a 4-5/8" model if I wanted it. I said "No...I want the 5-1/2" model." I was starting to worry that I might never get mine.
My dealer called today and said my .44 had finally arrived. It is the first one that he had seen. He is closed this weekend, so it will be a couple of weeks until I can pick it up, but thats OK. I know it is there and I have a couple of hundred handloads ready and waiting. Now I need to decide what grips to get for it and a new gunbelt sounds like a good idea, also.
This is almost like Christmas...except better!

Well, I am pleased to report that my LGS called this afternoon and reported the receipt of my .44 Special (4 5/8). I went forthwith to my credit union, withdrew funds to pay for it and then went directly to the shop and picked it up.
I've not had the chance to really examine it closely, never mind shoot it yet, but at first glance it looks well put together and tighter than the average Ruger SA. I still look with disbelief at the roll marked ".44 Special" on the frame. I thought I'd never see it on a factory Ruger.
I'm heading to a Friends of the NRA banquet tomorrow in Ohio, so shooting will have to be put off until this weekend at the earliest...

Picked up my 4 5/8ths about a month ago, now, and I still haven't been able to put it on paper. We've had rain almost constantly. It certainly has no problem ringing my 12" steel plate that's 40 yards away from the back door -- this using Skeeter's load. I, too, ordered one from a dealer buddy, but that one hasn't shown. The local indoor range got a few, and I snapped one of those up. I guess if the other one ever arrives, I'll have two.
Mine wears a stainless SBH hammer to match the stainless trigger that came on it and poly/ivory stocks from Ruger's website.
