Over the last few years, I've (hopefully temporarily) found less time to shoot in my current stage of life. I like to collect relatively rare revolvers, sometimes a few for each caliber, but when some aren't shot for years, or at all, or get passed over for another favorite when I can get range time, it seems a bit wasteful. Case in point: Ruger 32s. In this caliber, I shoot my GP100 the most, and the single actions more sparingly (the Buckeye remains unfired). I want to retain the ability to shoot both 327 and 32-20, but I'm wondering, before I decide to begin shooting the Buckeye, if I might not be better served by selling/trading the Buckeye, the Blackhawk, and the Single-Seven for a FA 97 in 327/32-20. There is not enough money for me to buy a FA outright. Seems to me it is a question of quality vs quantity, utility vs rarity, working gun vs safe queens. I would definitely be keeping the double action, but the FA could stand in for the other three single actions and get shot more to boot. I know the wait time on FAs is long right now, so I'd probably be looking for a used gun if I could find one, should I go down that road. I don't own any FA revolvers yet. I am not leaning one way or another at this time, so any opinions on this potential choice would be greatly welcomed.

I'd keep the Ruger's myself, but if you decide to sell them, feel free to send me a PM regarding that 327 Blackhawk!

I voted FA based on your situation -- I think you would like it and actually shoot it.
If I was offered either option I would probably take the three pack!

I voted for the FA. I only own 1 FA in .454 Casull but it does put the Rugers to shame. There is another option and that is to sell the Rugers and have one of the talented smiths build you a custom revolver exactly how you want it

One thing I've found is if the choice is which one to shoot it eases my mind to know that there's only one choice. I don't say that jokingly.

If the FA’s were 83’s, without a doubt! 97’s are sweet, but no 454 or 475.

I’d trade 3 stock Rugers for an FA. The Buckeye has substantial collectors interest so you’d get close, selling it and one other, to funding a single cylinder, used FA. I have Bowen/Fishpaw touched FA97 in 32H&R/327 Fed that I would love to get a third cylinder in 32-20. The shipping 2 ways really kills the deal. Maybe someday. Tim

I'm going to agree with John. Keep the Rugers. I'd sell something else to fund the FA.

I have to agree. I would not get rid of the Rugers.
The FA97 is my favorite factory revolver. But, not at the expense of giving up three hard to find guns.

Trade guns you don't shoot - what good are Ruger's you don't shoot? I look at them and see that gap around the cylinder - "built to a price".
