Rigby those look great!!! The wood on the Citori is phenominal and if Mr. Turnbull does half as good case hardening my Ruger as he did on the Sauer, I'll be thrilled. You did an outstanding job rejuvenating those shotguns!!!

Considering going into the shotgun restoration business? I'll be your first customer. Those look great, I have an old "Ranger" marked double that nobody can tell me anything about, it belonged to my dad and I would really like to get it restored.

nobearsyet, The Ranger was distributed by Sears, but like I said above that doesn't mean its a bad gun. There is a good chance that the gun was made by Stevens for Sears. As far going pro,? I have done a couple but they dont seem to be as much fun to do.

D(*N it, I can't find anyone that wants to touch it because they say the cost outweighs the benifits.

Beautiful guns and fine workmanship, too. I'm quite sure you could get folks to pay for the service but ther's nothing quite like the satisfaction of doing it yourself for yourself.
I'd be interested in how you did the blueing and what you used.

Mark, the Meriden receiver was hot blued the barrels where rust blued because of the soldering. What the exact chemicals are I dont know. I am old friends with the local gunsmith and I used his place to do the bluing. The barrels where boiled in water. I applied the rust bluing and the hung in a humidity cabinet (aka old fridge) did this for three days. Buffing in between coats. Did pretty much the same thing with the Damascus barrels but instead of bluing agent used acid. Then lacquered the barrels the same way I did with the case color. Woody pm returned.

Thanks, I've actually been without a project for awhile. Its hard to get motivated to stay inside and work on something when its nice out. Much easier to enjoy the work when its freezing outside. ;D
