So I was using ammo seek to look at buying some .410 shells today ( who hoo... federal is starting to ship 410 shells again ) anyway the site I was on, at the bottom of the page has a "items you may also like" & I saw something I've never seen for sale... link later... I remember the 1st time I saw those Phillips Screwdriver bullets in loaded ammo Lehigh defense if my memory serves me today... now 2 -3 years later they are still around, so they must be more practical than I would have expected... back to the site I was on today... they had 12 ga shells with .60" lead balls, (2) connected with 6" of braided steel cable ( ala bolo ) kind of blew my mind... not sure if the cable is strong enough to keep the the balls together, & cut anything between them... but seems pretty nasty... what's the strangest ammo you guys remember seeing... was it a fad, or something ahead of it's time??? another prime example, for me, is the Matts 250 grain 45 Colt Wadcutter... shaped like a regular bullet... I think these were / are ahead of their time... older picture, but those Matt's bullets loaded up... Ok... the link for the "bolo" 12 ga shells... www.koshersurplus.com/product/12-gauge-2-3-4%e2%80%b3-ball-and-chain-ammunition-bolo-5-pack/

Flechette munitions fired from a 90mm recoiless is an extremely effective anti personnel munition, but there are thousands of the 1-1.25” flechettes. They appear to be simple finishing nails with little fins on them but they are hardened steel and can and will penetrate like crazy. The sound a 90mm flechette round makes when they fly thru the air is wicked.

Sir, your stubby birdshead vaquero pics have encouraged me to find one. And I did. And I love it. It will get some special treatments in the future but for now. I’m happy with it. Oh and I have also seen those Matt’s bullets and thought, “ I should try these” !

Anybody ever shoot any critters with them screwdriver bullets?
I've theoretically wanted to pick some up if I ever ran across them, just to tinker with, but I don't go to gun stores and never think to order any.

Aluminum cased 410 rounds meant for the aircraft survival firearms. I been to two county fairs and an earthworm wrastle and aint never seen no stuff like that before.

I think those" Screw Driver" Bullets are for shooting bowling pin competition. They dig into the pin and do not deflect off the plastic coating. I got some in a gun room cleanout one time in 357. I think there were some in 45 auto too. I the guy said his father used to shoot bowling pin competition. I don't know if that is popular anymore?
