About every other month, I'll stop on a Friday night after 2nd shift and pick up a BIG gyro. There is a little Greek owned place near work. At that rate, it stays a treat. The big gyro comes overloaded with meat, avalanches off when you open the wrapping. So, we take @ 1/3 of the meat and put aside. Re-build the remainder and cut in half and enjoy. That other 1/3 of the meat is now in a skillet with onions, peppers and garlic, to be made into a big honkin' omelet. YUM. Wife mentioned pancakes too. Double treat !

Hi... Breakfast this morning was sausage, fried eggs and hash browns. Washed it down with a couple of cups of hot Earl Grey tea. Eating good in the neighborhood!!!

Don't you just love the simple things like this. Especially when you can stretch the joy into a second day!

I love gyro's as much as the next guy. I've intentionally never looked at the nutritional content. That and the yummy cucumber sauce that comes with it.

On Tuesday night I brought home a similar batch of Gyros from a local shop (with a VERY pro 2A proprietor). As much as I love the pita, I try to avoid it, but I ordered an extra for my gf.
There was enough there that we each had a big meal followed by a good lunch the next day, and had a Very happy dog who would do just about anything for some gyro meat.
We were saying that it was especially good, as we only have it about three times a year.
Ok, I cheat a little. I work third shift, and a couple Gyro shops are the few places that still stay open late these days, so I get a late night one now and then.

Gyro’s from a little place while enjoying the Adriatic with a portion of fresh off the boat calamari, is a fond memory of being in Greece.

Had to google migas also, says they come from the Iberian peninsula. Anyone ever try Iberian jamon de bolata?
