How are the bases maounted to the revolver? I know it uses the rear sight screw but is the top of the frame drilled & tapped with an additional hole(s)?

That looks to be a Redfield Blackhawks mount? There SHOULD be a screw hole drilled & tapped in the top strap...This would easily confirmed by removing the cylinder & checking for a tapped hole.

That's a nice looking gun at a good price, if a hunting 41 is what you want. Grips would really class it up.

Yeah, don't care for the grips and the seller doesn't have the original sight but it would make a good hunting gun. I foolishly passed on a real nice 3 screw 41 last year but had other priorities that won out.
