That is no model 21 by any stretch of the imagination. If it had been one with a model 24 target barrel and sights added it would not match up at the barrel frame junction. This gun also has some of the recoil shield ground away for some unknown reason. The grips are way later versions. Would I buy this gun? Yes if I could inspect it before hand in person and the price was right. Through the mail, at auction, not on your life.

You don’t see model 520 guns for sale often. It is the knot other N frame that has the rounded bottom mag a grips along with the 58 41 mag. Now if the 58 had a tapered barrel like that it would be the cats meow!

I am nervous about the "under the floor" storage in some kind of preservative. Some of that stuff turns into glue after a while.

My dad uses a museum wax on some of his with a bad finish. I wonder if this was just a heavy coat of that.

Renaissance wax is the spit shine gun wax many top collectors use on their fine arms.
