Yep, i found and purchased a Rossi Puma 20” .454 Casull to go with my Freedom Arms revolvers. The Rossi is a Puma M92 Imported by LSI of Alexandria Virginia. It has the safety on the bolt, soon to be removed and plugged, and the plastic follower, soon to follow the Recycle truck to be turned into a Leggo. Evident by the rust on the front barrel band and mag tube, the previous owner stored it in his vehicle Muzzle-down. The rest of the gun is in fine condition. I plan on replacing the front barrel band, magazine tube and front sight. If I can find parts. If anyone knows where I can buy a new magazine tube and barrel band, I would love to read about the source. I can get the follower, safety plug and a new magazine spring from Steve’s, but this gun was made by Rossi before Interarms, so I am wondering where to buy the tube and band. If I knew that a Winchester M92 tube and band would fit, I’d probably just go that route. thanks! Jordan

Check to see if the mag tube is the older press in or if it's the newer threaded one before you go lookin for one. It might be that all the 454's/480's are the threaded tubes but I remember reading about some of the pressed in ones moving forward and shearing off the muzzle screw. Mine is a stainless and it's a great gun. hmm, I need to dig it out and go shoot it. It's been awhile.

Mike took care of my front barrel band. Rossi might sell me a mag tube. Thanks!

Today, Rossi Customer Service gal, who was nice enough, but couldn’t find out which outhouse she last used, told me I couldn’t buy a barrel, because it was “restricted”. This after asking for a Magazine Tube. Hopefully, it was just a bad cell connection. I gave her the serial number, and asked when it was made. Crickets. She couldn’t find hay in a haystack. After 15 minutes on hold, she was the hand they dealt. The country is near end times. Before I hung up in disgust, her supervisor told her to have me send in a picture of the gun. This was after it lay in pieces on my desk, which is how I knew what parts were needed. I told her I would send a picture of each part that I wanted, and that seemed acceptable. I expect this kind of C/S from those speaking English as a second language, but this girl was Northern with good English. Guess being gun-dumb is to be expected. The 92 is a Casull, and evidently an early Safety model since the mag tube is a simple socket connection. The outer mag tube rust ring was the only thing that kept it in place, other than the two barrel clamps that were rusted on the inside, and had a few blotches in the blue. Previous owner neglected maintenance altogether. After using brass brush wrapped in patch with Hoppes, for about 20 minutes, the rifling showed up bright and crisp. Action is in fine shape. The so-called wooden forend fit well, but like all I have seen, has a nasty crack down the middle of the divider between mag tube and barrel. I am glad I didn’t pay too much for my parts gun, but this is where the fun is. Of course, if these idiots just sold old parts, they could afford a knowledgeable C/S rep. Colt’s C/S responded wonderfully. Of course, the guy was happy CZ bought out the former crooks, and were injecting cash into the business. I asked for an RMA to send my new Python in for a new Transfer Bar under warranty. Seems the original didn’t like 2,000 magnum loads, so the MIM Transfer bar snapped in half. He told me that many of their parts suppliers were having issue due to the Kung Flu. Seems their Transfer Bar QC guy must have been MIA when they did inspections. They paid insured overnight Fedex, quick and easy. Hopefully, my 6” Python was made under better QC. I’ll let you know if Rossi comes through. Jordan

on my custom Marlin 50 A.E. we decided to glass bed the forearm, as there was much greater stresses in 50, than in the original 44 Magnum caliber... would expect the 454 to exert similar stresses, you may find glass bedding as a solution to keep from cracking the forearms...
also, on my 50 the mag tube needed to be replaced, & that was fabricated fairly easily... so if nothing is available, you may find a local machinist, that could duplicate it???

I’ll know which direction to head after Rossi responds to the pictures I sent them. I figure I will use the glass bed trick on my new forearm when it arrives. Can’t be as hard as bedding a Garand. Thanks....Jordan

Rossi sent me to Interarms. Gal wrote that my serial number was from before their ownership. M&M took care of my barrel band need, and I found a spare new Casull bolt. Steve the Rossi expert hooked me up with most of the springs and small parts i need. A new forend is on the way. Once I get rid of the rust, and re-blue this poor thing, it should turn out good enough for government work. If I can't find a new mag tube, I'll have either buffed the rust out, or resorted to PVC.
