I have always had good luck with Lee molds so I ordered this one for the Freedom Arms. Hopefully a good choice. I need to decide on the alloy to cast with now

Were you able to find gas checks for it? That is the gas check mold? Correct.

Mine casts small but is good looking bullet. Tank Hoover has included it in several 45 colt articles. I love the lee 452-255 rf. It's great. I shoot them powder coated at all levels and with black powder. Lee stuff may have quirks but I've bought several disappointing molds at much higher cost. Lee stuff I just shrug off little problems. In the end use what works for you and your guns.

Check Sage outdoors for gas checks.

Try Matteson Machine Shop for a checkmaker. $80. Or $100 if you order it hardened. They work well and they stand behind them. (239)218-7956.

I need to decide on the alloy to cast with now When I first got my FA 454 a few years back someone sent me some from one of those moulds. I think they were water dropped WW alloy. Shot good to 25yds. I didn't shoot it much past that as I settled on a 335-340gr from an Accurate mould that a buddy gave/loaned me. I would have lubed em with LBT blue 340gr LFN LBT style Accurate mould. My moose hunting load.

Works great in case you need a head or shoulder shot on hogs. The fairly wide meplat punches a nice effective hole. I use lots of these bullets.
