Listened to a podcast today with Ruger's President. He stated that they are targeting mid-December to release an 1895SBL--Stainless Big Loop in 45-70.

That is a promising note, I hope they start producing many of the Marlin line soon.

Again I hope they do something different. I don't know what different means but I hope.

I expect it will be a slow roll out. While they have all the equipment, work in process inventory and intellectual capital, it will take time for their engineers and workers to get fully in gear.

I KNOW they don't want to make the same mistakes Remington did and go too fast, too soon and have a bunch of really shoddy guns floating around. I need any other lever guns but there are a couple that if they build them I will beg, borrow, or steal to get them...

The question is what is the appropriate time to start lobbying?
I'd love to see and 18" 1894 in .45 colt and .480.

I trust Ruger will get the Marlin brand right. Since the 480 is a Ruger developed cartridge, I'm optimistic that'll eventually happen...I don't see a 454 happening, & definitely not in a 1894 model.

I agree. Probably not the .454.
It'd be cool though.

I would love to have it in any platform. I think either one would be a great short range deer/hog round and as Taffin, sixshot and others have shown they work well on elk and moose from a revolver so should be most excellent from a rifle.

Yessir, a 41 mag and 480 Ruger would be sweet.
