So I am new to the board but am reawakening my big bore addiction... I feel like I am at some kind of self help meeting here. In the last two months I have picked up: 2 .500 Linebaugh single actions, one Bowen .50 special/.500 Linebaugh swap cylinder Redhawk, one .577 boxer revolver and (non-revolver) an 8 bore double. I CANNOT fine .500 Linebaugh dies. C4HD does not have them in stock and I took their last set of .50 special dies. I can't quite make them work for the full size .500 so I am going crazy on needing dies. No one else seems to have any instock. It is bad enough that I likely will have to make my own .577 dies when my lathe and mill get here. Can someone tell me where I can find some dies to scratch my big bore itch? I have powder, bullets, primers, and brass so this is really confounding...

Nice acquisitions !! You can use 510 gnr dies in a pinch. The 510 gnr is basically a 500 linebaugh special. So it won’t full length size but will get u going in a pinch. Available from Reeder custom guns.

Tell us where you've tried. Who you've called ? I called EGW for a set of rings yesterday and they were out of stock. They checked their puter to see which suppliers were sitting on stock and let me know. Rings are in the mail now. I don't have anything here of 500L or I'd top off the brass and lend for a couple weeks. Also, welcome to the forum !

Welcome!
Keep looking. I find lots of stuff on e-bay even though many don't like shopping there sometimes it's the only way.
BTW...nice grab on that Redhawk from Hallowell. I have to ask are those snakewood grips marked RxF on the back and serialized to the revolver?
Sorry it's still a little early and I can't remember Roy's middle initial and I'm not pulling grips for it.

Sorry it's still a little early and I can't remember Roy's middle initial and I'm not pulling grips for it. Ha good call. I did get that bowen redhaw. I have not pulled the grips off but the fit and finish is similar to two other set of Roy Fishpaw grips I have on lightly modified bowen guns (still have the original paperwork someone had from bowen, picked them up at auction for a song [$750 for the pair]). Those snake wood grips have shrunk over the years. I have been prepping brass for it but should get it loaded up and shot this weekend! I hope they have not shrunk so much that this is uncomfortable to shoot. I shoot lots of heavy .44 and .45 colt out of 4 inch redhawks and that does not bother me too much. I am planning 350 grain bullets at somewhere between 800-900 FPS. Load won’t be bad but I may end up having to regroup that revolver. As far as where have I tried to source dies. I called C4Hd and they said probably 2 years before they do another run. I have looked online at: eBay, gunbroker, many different forums, grafts, brownells, midway, many searches over a couple of weeks where I went 5 or 6 pages deep. I also have an unanswered email out to Redding. Any other places would be appreciated.

You can get a set of 510 GNR dies from Gary Reeder. I use them for both 500 Linebaugh and 510 GNR. You can even use them for 500 Maximum if feel the need.

Hello, any chance we could get some pics of the 577? Well it is taking longer than I want to get here from Rock Island. It was scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, but now is delayed a day due to a train wreck. Who knew... It came out of the Clive Cussler collection and went a good bit cheaper than any of the top break .577s I have seen in the past 6 years so I was happy to grab it. Trying to post a picture from the auction... I will take a group picture with some other large revolvers I have when it gets in... I am about to give up on photos here though. It says that I have a 1mb limit, I have reduced the dang thing down to about 420kb and it still won't let me post it. Not the biggest deal on this one but when I take some pics it is really going to curtail my desire to post them if I have to play with it for an unreasonable amount of time. You need to use an image hosting website to post pictures on here. I use post image.com. It is fairly easy to use and it is free.

Out of curiosity, if a third party host is needed does any one know why there are "insert image" and "add attachment" buttons? I can get neither to work with a small (420kb) size file. If I have to use a third party host fine, but I really don't like sharing pictures generally and if I have to upload to a site that I do not control I really don't like posting. Do I have to reach some magic number of posts before it will let me use these features?

Since I don't like third party picture hosting in general, anyone that wants to see a few pictures of the .577 compared to a couple of my Redhawks can go here. snugbus.com/non-nfa/index.pl?read=3546

Still looking for dies. The 510 GNR dies don't seem to be an option as I have gotten no return contacts on that. And evidently Redding is under some set of different rules rather than the rest of the firearms world...
"Good morning Bonner -
Unfortunately we do not make anything for that caliber. Because of governmental regulations we are not allowed to do anything over .500 diameter.
Jocko LaClair Customer Service Technician"
The search continues.
