I have a Bowen built OMBH in 25-20 caliber. Reading an article in the current Handloader magazine about using Lil’Gun powder in a 22 K Hornet. Anyone used this powder in a 25-20? I. Also have a Kimber 82 in the K Hornet and plan to try that powder in my rifle.

I ALSO HAVE AN OMBH 25-20 BY BOWEN. I USE H-4227 IN IT AND ALSO IN A 22 K-HORNET CYLINDERED MOSEL 53 22 JET REVOLVER. I WOULD NEVER USE LIL'GUN IN A REVOLVER.

Well, according to the powder burn rate schedule I have, Lil’Gun is close to the 4227 powders, so I am not sure why it would not work in a 25-20 revolver. But whatever, I will defer to those more experienced.

It works just fine, but has a well proven history in destroying forcing cones in short order...

Definitely not the right powder for your expensive custom revolver
Lil Gun will damage your forcing cone This is a known issue specifically with the Lil Gun powder
It's great for the K-Hornet in a *rifle* I use it in my Ruger No.1
In the revolver, the open barrel/cylinder gap gets blasted by this particular powder

My 2-cents on Lil Gun. If it burns up forcing cones due to high flame temp, it can wear out rifle barrel throats too. I shot the stuff in a .41 Magnum when it first came out. After 20 rounds, I was shocked at how hot the barrel got. A rifle wouldn't be immune to that. I haven't used it since. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

But, have used it in my TC Contender Carbine for years varmint hunting and it shows no sigh of damage. Sure a bore scope would show things that my antique eyes don't see.
