A coworker just picked up a couple Cimarron SAA clones in 45 colt, what is the relative strength rating of these? 14K or 20K level loads? Just curious, handling them they were more impressive than I expected them to be. Certainly not USFA level but nice and smooth none the less...

20k is fine in those guns. You can also easily add a 45 ACP Cylinder. I did in both mine.
Those cylinder are somewhat larger than the Colts.
Some come up with silly, off the wall reasons not to load these to 20k. But, if it'll hold the 45 ACP, the 20k loads are no problem.
Ditto on their 44-40s and 38-40s...

I just nabbed one myself... Not sure on their strength but interested in hearing the feedback.

Thanks gents, that was my assumption but I wasn't sure, I doubt he runs them very hard at all knowing him. Standard 250gr at 850fps does fine on steel plates and paper targets but it is still good to know where they could go if he felt the urge to push things. He has already sorted out he needs to reload for the cartridge in a hurry, he found 3 boxes of Cowboy Action loads, 200gr bullet at a whopping 680fps or so for $77 per box plus shipping! For that price you could buy good stuff like Buffalo Bore or Garrett if they have inventory. But these guns have him pretty excited...

He well should be excited. These guns exhibit far better quality than the price tags reflect.
Check out the data on Hodgdon's Reloading Site. CFE Pistol Powder easily pushes a 250 grn over 1000 fps while keeping pressures very low.

My Cimarron is the nicest action and trigger pull than my others, Taylor, Uberti/stoger.
I will be buying more from Cimerron
