I am perplexed with all the ammo I have. For the last 15 years while I'm out I would buy a few boxes here and there. Then I got into various defensive loads (hollow points, AP collectable etc...). I must have one and a half tons of ammo! Maybe more. I am looking at this huge mountain. Thinking what the hell was I thinking. There will be a few range trips then find boxes that can handle weight. Keep them unmarked so movers will move them. Now is the time I wish I had a truck.

Wood boxes, only the stoutest plastic totes. If the move not far, trucks can be rented. Lowe's and such rent trucks for the day. Came to the wrong place to complain of having too much ammo ! LOL. Good luck with move, always stressful.

I moved last fall and realized my reloading had gotten out of hand. Setup and organization of bullets and brass continues to this day.
At least yours is loaded ammo!

Don't try to get the movers to take it. You're only setting them up to get screwed if something happens. Having been in the military for 20 years I moved a lot. Its something they make very clear that ammo and flammable stuff is a no-no. You can rent a truck and move it yourself easily enough. Or these days you would sell it easily enough.

If you can tow, rent the little enclosed Uhaul trailer 7x14 and it’s enclosed and a low deck. Easy way to safely move items

Or box up all the ammo and powder and write tools on the box.

Considering the actual value of what you have,....I would t trust anyone but myself to move it. Regardless of what you mark it or precautions you take, the movers could be anti 2A and decide to notify LEOs about your “arsenal” of ammo, or accidental water damage, or contamination could occur. I moved about 5 years ago, and moved all my guns and reloading supplies as well as loaded ammo myself. After seeing the hired movers “care” of our other stuff I was extremely glad of my decision. Don’t risk it,........rent a van, truck or trailer and DIY it.

Details… how far are you moving and where do you live. If you lived in my neighborhood and were only going ~500 miles I would help… you might be short a few rounds when we were done.

It's a 90 mile move. Cardboard is not the way. I have packed 2 small boxes two thirds. Man they are heavy! I was thinking about the mover. He did say "We don't know what's in unmarked boxes." I would do the move myself but arthritic knees do stop me.I want to heed the advice given to me. I like the barter of ammo for help. Phila to Ephtata (Lancaster County). 4 big foot lockers stacked inside. Bottom of closet full, top of closet full. Some under my bed. Maybe I'll get lucky and a zombie apocalypse will break out before the first.

Or box up all the ammo and powder and write tools on the box. If I'm out of options. I may. I would rather find another solution.

If you move it all yourself, get a refer dolly snd cart the boxes, or containers up a ramp into the moving van or trailer. Wheels move heavy boxes better than you back can. Been there done that.

I like the barter of ammo for help. Phila to Ephtata (Lancaster County). I think finding a younger shooter to give you a hand for a few boxes of range fodder would be your best option. A friend or a friend of a friend would be better. Maybe ask at your local gun shop, they might have an employee who would be interested. Perhaps a local law enforcement officer who is not anti gun might be interested. I have a friend in his 70’s who helped clear out a building as a teenager. There were a couple of pallets of 22LR ammo involved. They gave him all he could haul in exchange for his labor. He’s still got some left!! Tim
