Ok, the East Coast Gathering, at my place, was started 11 years ago, by myself & another guy who had seen the gathering of Forum folks in Texas. He & I had discussed the fact that Texas was too far for some folks to travel. So,,,, I started the Gathering! While it started on the Ruger forum, it's NOT, just for Rugers, or Ruger forum members. I repeat,, it's NOT just for Rugers or Ruger Forum folks! You can bring any legal firearm & enjoy! Heck, we have one gentleman who's bringing some suppressed firearms for us to play with. (Again!) We start on Friday, evening,(Oct 1) by gathering at my house for those who've traveled a distance. It's a social gathering. Dinner is served. Saturday, (Oct 2) we'll meet at my range,,, and I have (7) handgun bays for folks to play in. If you bring longguns, we usually wait until nobody is downrange to enjoy those, due to the layout of my range. We have some tables put out for "show & tell" or whatever. Saturday is spent shooting firearms & the bull. Folks often get to try out different guns they may not see other places,, (Such as a Hawkeye handgun, or a .357 Maxi,) And as I said, I already know some suppressed firearms are coming. I usually have a bay set with steel, one for rimfire fun, and a simple USPSA type stage to play in. Early evening, we do a "Low Country Boil" cooking! Usually Sunday is the day folks head home. Due to my respect for the folks going to church, I don't usually discharge any firearms on Sundays until after 1 pm.
So, if anybody here wishes to attend,, THIS IS AN OPEN INVITATION!!!!!!!!!! Just let me know you are coming, so we know about how much food to figure on!
Also, if anybody needs the address etc,, PM me, and I'll get it to you!
So,, bigbore5,, you gonna come & play?

Now the bummer. Maxi brass is on back order from starline. ***** Except for reamer depth the .38 Special, .357 Magnum, and .357 Maximum share the same diameter chamber. I reloaded the first experiment Maximum brass on .38/.357 dies. While our focus was on .357 Maximum ammo, I shot .38 Special and .357 Mag in prototype SRM’s behind Ruger’s house in Croydon, New Hampshire, often with accuracy @ 100 yards. Some .357 Maximums shoot .38 Special and .357 Mag better than others. I made no attempt to evaluate why. My impression is that three dimensions affect accuracy: 1) Forcing cone. 2) Chamber-to-bore alignment. 3) Leade----transition between chamber and chamber exit hole (throat). Taken one at a time1) Forcing cone----I pushed for a SHORT 11-degree cone. Bill Ruger, Jr., favored a DEEP 5-degree cone. Bill Ruger, Sr., was neutral on the subject: “You two figure it out.” Both my short 11-degree and Bill, Jr.’s deep 5-degree were incorporated into production. To see which yours is, pull the cylinder and look. I defy anyone to measure with their eye the degrees in a forcing cone. Bill’s is deep. Mine is very shallow. The forcing cone must be concentric to the bore and smooth. If the forcing cone is cocked, pull the barrel and correct it on a lathe. You won’t find me trusting a had-held reamer. Maybe one of those old Kurdish gunsmiths who made Lee Enfield .303’s by hand could do it, or a craftsman at Fabrique Nationale or Holland & Holland. Bullet abrasion caused by a rough forcing cone is not as destructive of accuracy as anoff-axis forcing cone which is smooth. A BULLET MUST START RIGHT TO END RIGHT. 2) Chamber-to-bore alignment----astounding accuracy is possible with up to .006-inch runout between exit hole axis and bore axis. To repeat my refrain, a revolver is an orchestra of dimensions. If one component plays out of key, it may or may not ruin the concert. When various components are out of register, accuracy takes a dive. Even my .006-inch runout is a flexible number. Fat bullets with the ballistic coefficient of a barn door are more tolerant of misalignment. Skinny little bullets with high BC’s are sensitive to minor dimensional features. 3) Leade----I borrow the term & spelling from jargon for rifle chambers. The ramp connecting chamber wall to exit hole in a revolver cylinder must be smooth. Roughness which tears bullet material feeds SPITTING at the cylinder/barrel gap, sets up jacket fouling, and certainly leading. A rough or abrasive leade exerts an even greater affect when short brass is loaded. I shoot .38 Spl. and .357 Mag in Maximums without the slightest worry. David Bradshaw

Thankfully a very kind gentleman on here has offered to send me some brass and even refused payment! I intend on paying his kindness forward. For now I have the mp 358429 and the 359640 molds and am ordering the Lee Martin mold from Accurate to try.
