YES, mags can be loaded down. Hence the M69 here and a 300gr SWC/WFN bullet seated in spec brass.

The 45 Colt is about my favorite caliber, so my "Workin Man's Gun" is a SS 4 5/8" BlackHawk with a blued Bisley cylinder in 45 Colt. I'm kind of a fan of the Houge Mono Grip, so it's got one of those also. This one is my most carried revolver. I've got bullet molds from 160 to 350 grains, I have gone as big as 405s. but it mostly shoots a 270 with a case full of IMR 4227.

A double edged sword for me. I'd have to say the NM FT BH 44spec's with 4 .5/8" or 5 1/2" perfect all around all day packable, etc.. Mine a blued 5.5". Yet it is so general purpose, all around that I keep reaching for more specific use handguns and it stays home ! I'd not argue against 45's due to bigger holes, less weight. I will argue against magnums. A packed for the day gun, short notice to needing it likely, I want lower velos, less harsh on ears. With re-occuring ear infections from foam plugs and too hot to wear muffs all day at work. Tinnitus, anyway. For me, a number of the gang's here favs would not be packed except to a range. Yep. I carry my 45 Colt Montado more than any other revolver, although the Model 69 S&W, a 5-shot 44 mag, does get holster time, too. But in the city it's mostly ho-hum Glock 43 with backup provided by S&W 431PD in 32 H&R mag...

My grandfather’s. He was never without this or his 4” model. I posted more info about him in the ‘Vets and Law Enforcement’ and this is the 29-2 I referred to. My most prized possession:

Bob likes to show this holster off and who can blame him? That is one gorgeous piece of leather gear! I prefer a SA rig that covers the trigger guard, but jeez that’s purty. Sunday go to meeting suitable for sure.

This is my (working mans 44). Picked it up for 500 or so dollars used. Added a few parts to make it the way I wanted it. It is with me more that anything else I own. Jonathan.

Mine would have to be my 1961 44 Flattop. My 1959 is more for looking at than shooting. I should post a pic of both 44s and my 1956 357 as a group sometime.

Well, I now own 3 New Model Blackhawk Flattop 44 specials. I had 5 but 2 were gifted to a couple of friends. I also has 2 of the first new model flattop 357s but one was sold to finance my first 44 special and the other also given as a gift. These 44 specials are my main guns for hunting deer and pigs and rural cary. Only one has any work to it and it was done prior to me purchasing it 2nd hand. It has had some trigger and action work. It happens to be a blue 5 1/2” model. The other 2 are stock and both are stainless steel. One a 4 5/8” and the other a 5 1/2” bisley. The later is my most shot and carried handgun. For me, a novice, these new model Flattop Rugers are perfect! We don’t try to make them little magnums with our loads and they keeep killing piggies and deer. I do need a good 44 magnum but until I find the right one, it’s little brother works for me.

Since school started back up, time is scarce, so I've only been able to pop in a few times to gawk at these beautiful revolvers. It will get worse when we go online, which is taboo to even think, because no one wants to do it, but it's looking more inevitable every day. THEN time will be REALLY scarce, so I'll try to contribute what I can WHILE I can.
In other words, I didn't just talk up what I thought was cool and ignore what everyone else thought was cool.
So, to catch up, my collective general comment/compliment/acknowledgement is: DANG, you guys have GOOD TASTE!
Makes it rough on a fella who's taken a deep breath and made hard choices about which few he'll settle down with - in light of all the wonderful choices, which don't tempt me unless I SEE them. And, I have SEEN them here!
One especial irritation, as all of the guns shown have affected me equally with this one little exception, is that if Smith would have just pulled out (the chamber reamers) a little but sooner, I'd be in big trouble, because I'd be saving for one of those 69s. Thankfully, I already have a near-new-looking (Strattford) Charter Target Bulldog wagging a finger at me and telling me you have ME, you don't need another."
Incidentally, I re-weighed the two Tim posted pics of for me - the OM conversion and the NM Flat Top 44s. My NM weighs 37.0 ounces and the OM weighs 37.1 ounces and both "balance" almost exactly the same, which is how my 5.5" OM 45 Colt felt that I got along with so well.

UPDATE: Now that I had a chance to follow Mr. taffin 's advice and try postimage (thank you, Sir), I have an updated photo of the 44 Special Ti posted for me. This is different from the first image in that it now sports the aluminum XR3-RED grip frame and factory Ruger walnut panels. In this form. it's an ounce lighter than the OM conversion my dad gave me and either feels "right" at a 37 ounces, even.

I do like the grips on my 59. And all the early style Blackhawk grips. Nice shooting!
