Snyd.... the very definition of pursuit. To hunt this way loads each breath, pulls you each step. No hike knows this pull.
Beautiful performance, David Bradshaw

True dedication of a handgun hunter. The best way to only take your trophy with a handgun, is to only carry a handgun. I applaud your resolve.

Second DCUA Walkin Ram for me. 38.5" 11 yo. 71 yds with the Freedom Arms 454 Casull. I thank the Lord and my partner Roy. Over the years I'd been hoping to get a Ram in this class and also get a shot at one with my pistol. Both happened on this trip. Also we got him 1 day before my 61st Birthday so he's a Birthday Ram as well. I'd never hunted sheep this late, first BDay in the Sheep Mtns. This is number 4 for me out of 10 I've packed and ate. Other 3 I did euro mounts and sold the capes, this one gets mounted. For me this is the pinnacle, the Apogee of my Sheep Hunting. I am done chasing rams for myself. If one of my buddies draws and needs a partner and if my body holds out I'll enter the Sheep Mountains again. But for me, it's been an awesome ride and I'm more than satisfied. Hmm, I got my first and last ram on DCUA Walkin Hunts. There's much more to the story for a future thread. FYI - DCUA is the Delta Controlled Use Area Draw only. This is a non-motorized, no pack animals hunt. I killed him 15 miles off the road. Our tent was 12 miles back in. It's all DIY walkin pack it out. BEAUTIFUL! CONGRATULATIONS

If this was the Olympics, the judges(us) would all be holding up "10's" and you'd get the GOLD.

Impressive! Congrats Did you pack out the meat and if so how? Absolutely!! Not only is it a delicacy it is the law to salvage all edible meat! Including rib meat. Dall Sheep meet is not like, and is not Mutton. It is superb! The meat is marbled with fat like beef. It has it's own unique fabulous flavor. We pack it out in our backpacks. An average ram, meat, cape and horns will weigh about 120lbs. Split that between two guys plus gear and we come out with over 100lb packs each. That's the way it is on these DIY backpack sheep hunts. No guide with young packers to do the hard work. It makes it all that more special and rewarding.

Outstanding full curl ram, fantastic! JOC would be proud. Congrats! Now that is one great compliment there. To have my name mentioned along with Jack O'Conner, well... For those of you who don't know. Jack O'Conner is to Sheep Hunting like the names Elmer Keith, Dick Casull, Wayne Baker, John Linebaugh, etc. and others who post on these forums are to Handgun Hunting.
