Got a bull Friday. Not a huge bull but he'll eat good. Shot was around 40 yards in a sea of devils club. Hate that plant. Shot a few more times as he trotted off. The blood trail was short and had lots of blood as shown in the picture, those leaves are around 1' in diameter for reference. Found him laying down with his head up, Shot him in the head 3 times and then he got up, turned and looked like he was going to run off again so I put another through the boiler room. That changed his mind. He laid back down. I worked my way around and put one in the back of his head and he died. I bet if I would have waited a few minutes before going in he would have been dead when I found him. FA 475Linebaugh 385gr miha HP, 20gr 2400, win LPP. Aaron

Have had moose to eat at friends house and game dinners. Never hunted them myself. Have seen them in N. Ont and Wyoming. Moose give me the drools...YUM! Congrats ! Shoot to DEAD, thank you.

3 headshots with a 475 and it got up? That's got to be the world's toughest moose.

Do you think had you shot a regular solid cast bullet you might have had more decisive results?
That Miha bullet is a dandy and I certainly would bust a moose with one if give a chance. I have a LBT mold that drops bullets 380gr or so, both bullets shoot to the same spot, at least out to 100 yards or so. I thought process was hollowpoint for the first shot or two and solids from there out. Haven't put the theory in play yet though...
Oh and congrats, a moose with a wheelgun is way up on my to do list if I could ever draw the danged tag...

I haven't shot solids in enough critters to say. I've had mixed results on them if they don't hit bone on the way in.

Once you pass a .380" meplat impacting at 1000fps solids work great on big animals. Still like a tough hp on 400 pounds or less critters.

Am curious as to what velos you were getting with that load. in 480, I've been playing with A2400 from 16-18 grs. Long seated. Am always interested in testimonies that come from over a gut pile !
