Buffalo Arms sells custom expander balls that fit rcbs die bodies, reasonably priced and work fine. Currently trying to get my Hornady New Dimention dies to load 405Win with cast bullets sized .414. Not having much luck. I’m sure RCBS dies would have been better choice.

Have the RCBS and Hornady. Neither are what I would call great. The Linebaugh is a very expensive gun. Spend the $450 for the Redding custom set with profile crimp and titanium. No lube. No bullet pull. Perfect sizing. Micrometer bullet seating. They'll even match the seater to the bullet you send in

Cheers I've asked Redding for 500L dies and they say they don't have the tooling to make a die for a bullet that big but if there is enough demand they'll reconsider. Shame, Redding are my favorite dies.

I’ve never seen .500 Linebaugh Redding dies…

I was unaware Redding would make these dies. I just sent them a message. We shall see.

I just emailed Redding to inquire as well. Hopefully we all add up to enough consumer demand. I am not seeing many positive comments about Hornady’s dies and those are the only ones I see available online. It would be a shame to have Bowen build me a .500L and then have the shooting experience suffer because of poor die selection and or bullet selection. Any advice appreciated!

, I bought a 510 taper crimp die from Reeder. Tight throats with a roll crimp was annoying. Made it difficult to seat the cartridge in the chamber. Taper crimp was the ticket!

I dug back through my dies. That set wasn't Redding after all. It's a custom set of C&H dies I've had in a Redding die box for 30 years.
I've used the Hornady dies with no problems, but ended up facing them of to load 50 special a decade or so ago. I would like to get a set of their carbide dies though I hate lubing cases.

Hate to hijack ( but not enough to stop me). If I added the CH taper crimp to my Hornady set, do you think it would stop the bullet jump I keep getting? Or do you think the full length sizer would be a bit tighter than the Hornady and would be a better option?

Adjusted properly I have had no problems with the Hornady New Dimension crimp die. Pictured are the 355gr@1535fps,410gr@1350, and a 525gr@1150fps loads after going around the cylinder twice. That's riding 8 recoil cycles. No visible pulling. From the 4 die New Dimension set using the separate crimp only die. The only time I have had real trouble with pull is with the Bushwhacker and the 525's. But that's a whole nother story. Are you using the separate crimp only die? Or over crimping?

The 500L is the only one I have had to pull any. I have went tighter and looser with the crimp and it was a mute change. It is the Hornady 4 die set so I seat and crimp separately, wondered if my size die might be just a smidge oversized.

Too bad Lee can't make a collet crimp die in this size. I would get a factory crimp die in a heartbeat if they could.
