Shot my 45-70 BFR with the Leopold Freedom red dot tube sight on it, last night... was just going to freehand, get it on paper at 25 yards... 5 shots all within 3" around the dot ( that's about as good as I can shoot freehand ) especially on a big long revolver... so no sight adjustments... assume the bullets are still rising at 25ft... so will move out to at least 100 ft & shoot it off a field rest & see if it needs some adjustment at that distance... then it's time to cut the barrel down... a couple weeks ago I received an extra tall BFR sight from Fermin... so the fun begins on this one... not sure if I really call something custom, if the only thing done to it is shortening the barrel, & regulating the sights???

I have a Clements mid frame SS bisley on order. Going to be wearing a set of Fishpaw dall sheep grips that Rob Rowen moved the locator pin on for a good fit. It will be chambered in 38 special for a number of reasons. I have more guns in 38 special than 357 so I load that round and use it in my 38s and 357s. If I don't feel like reloading I can buy factory loads that provide world class accuracy for 20 bucks for a box of 50. When I do reload brass and bullets are cheap andthe double end wadcutters really speed things along on a progressive press. From target wadcutter loads to the 38/44 Elmer Keith load the old 38 will still cover a lot of ground.

That's a beautiful gun and I agree on the 38 Special. The old 38-44 is a wonderful cartridge!!!

been leaning towards doing a dedicated 40 S&W, but saw a convertible 10mm / 40 S&W blackhawk, & think that 4" S&W barrel could go onto that gun... pull the ejector housing, & do the thumbnail cuts on the cylinders, & fit the groove in the full lug barrel for the double action ejector, to fit cylinder pin on the single action... now just have to come up with a convertible blackhawk
