Tell us about your personal experiences with aftermarket barrels for 9mm Glocks. KKM, Barsto, Alpha Wolf, etc... I read that the twist rate for the factory G17 is one in ten. The aftermarket barrels that specify look to mostly be one in sixteen. We've all read the gloom and doom about lead bullets in stock barrels. Not worried about that. My interest is what shoots best. My personal experience with KKM, Barsto, and Alpha wolf is that, other that being more lead friendly, with drop in barrels we are wasting our money with the aftermarket barrels.

I’m mostly into the aftermarket barrels for the full chamber support - especially with the 10mm. Combine that with lead-friendly rifling and, hey, I’ll spend $80 on a Lone Wolf barrel.
That being said, I leave my 9mm barrels stock.

All my Glocks wear Lone Wolf Stainless Barrels. It's hard to overstate how great these barrels are...

Factory I think is listed as 1-9.84. I have a Feddersen extended and threaded for my G19. It's a 10 twist. Barrel shoots lights out. Haven't shot any cast yet, but wanting to do some 147 rnfp and some 165 cast hollow points. I have shot some slower twist 9mm barrels (16 twist) but those haven't shot as tight as what I have now. I have yet to shoot the 147 xtp which has always been extremely accurate for me.

I have a Wolf 40 S&W to 9mm conversion barrel for my G23. It shoots 10”-11” low at 25 yards depending on bullet weight. Not a fan.

I’m not sure you are gaining all that much on an aftermarket barrel. Obviously the stock barrels are polygonal (or they were), which says no for lead… so if you want to shoot reloads, fine. That said, The Lantac barrel and the Agency barrels I had in my guns were great, with the Lantac being the tighter fitting of them two.
I personally preferred those to KKM, Wolf, and a handful of others I had over the years…. All that said, I’m not sure it really matters! Pick one you think looks nice in terms of aesthetics and roll!!

I'm just wondering how one defines "better". I don't have Ransom hands.

I'm just wondering how one defines "better". I don't have Ransom hands. I’m just more interested in case support and traditional rifling. That’s what I consider “better” about them. I have no issues with factory Glock barrels as far as accuracy is concerned.

I changed mine all out for the exact reasons Tim mentioned.
Traditional rifling of high quality handles cast bullets better and cleans easier.
Tighter chambers and better case supposed makes brass hold up much better.
For a target or Sporting use, could be a huge difference. For defense, probably doesn't matter...

I had a 6" BarSto in 9x21 for a G17. The feed ramp was visibly crooked, but it shot lights out so I didn't complain. Those were 9mm major loads for the old IPSC 175PF and it barked like an M1 carbine.
Had a Lone Wolf barrel in 9x19 for my G26 but didn't use it much because the leade was so short it wouldn't chamber my buckets of range loads.
Had a 6", 4-port barrel for my G21sf in 45 Super. Good case support and more accurate than I could hold. When running loads over the chrony, the target behind would have one ragged hole in it.
