Anybody have any experience with one of these? My LGS just got one in, it seems to be well made. Priced at $669. Got me thinking...

I have a quirky older one you're likely never going to find... stainless & brass with an octagon rifle barrel... I absolutely love the gun, but it was unfired when I bought it, as the firing pin was too short ( thinking it was either broken from dry firing, but it looked like they may have installed the wrong one... also have an blued engraved 357 saddle ring carbine, that was someones collector rifle, before I bought it for MRS to shoot CAS with... that one worked perfect... my buddy bought a stainless 357, that wouldn't eject from the factory... that one appeared to have the wrong ejector...
so take from this, that I hope the new ones have fixed the apparent "parts" issue that 2 out of 3 had, but once those issues were resolved, their pistol caliber levers are incredibly nice

I have the 45, and my dad has a stainless 357, and a blued 45.
I just instigated the sale of 3 of them to guys at work last week. Lol
The 45 is going for $560 new around here.
Great guns for the money. The wood isn't as nice one the newest ones I've seen.

R92 stainless 44m here. Highly recommend the R92, probably will have to have a 2nd one. Have not seen anyone menton Stevezgunz out of Lampasas Tx-he is THE R92 guru. Upgrade parts, videos, I think he works rifles over if you get in line. Even I was able to do a couple upgrades and add a saddle ring with his parts and instructions. IF you have or are considering a R92, you owe it to yourself to at least check out this site. stevesgunz.com

Not a good picture of mine, but in rare brass & stainless, with the octagon barrel... not sure how rare, but I've never seen another one in this configuration... snuck into the picture at the bottom is a little jewel... a dolls head, Greener cross bolt, shorter barrel ( 24" ) double barrel hammer 12 ga I use for CAS... along with the brass & stainless 45 Colt... these two make up a set, with my pair of polished stainless consecutive serial 45 Colt Montados with custom Brass Colt lightning grips

I like that brass/SS, sort of odd, but I like it! What is the vintage?

I'm not sure... if someone knew for sure, I'd like to hear... it has / had a safety, so it's not a pre-safety model... but I think the newer ones don't have the safety on the bolt any more ( are they on the tang??? ) so somewhere in the middle as far as vintage... never seen one like this... bought it as used on Gun Broker, maybe 7-8 years ago... as I've mentioned before, it wouldn't fire, so I think it was unfired ( it sure looked unfired ) had to put a new firing pin in, & all was good I've found a couple others pictured on the www but not a lot of info... mine didn't have the original box... I did find some pictures that had this box tag... this one sold in 2011... www.gunauction.com/buy/10684501... & a write up of one here... www.levergunscommunity.org/viewtopic.php?t=38815this line from the forum listed above...

Anybody have any experience with one of these? My LGS just got one in, it seems to be well made. Priced at $669. Got me thinking... I was surprised to see these go over $500 a while back, but $700 seems out of this world to me. I very reluctantly paid $430 for a blued, 16" 357 about ten years ago, thinking they would be in the $275 range. Seems I am always way behind on pricing expectations.
Out of the box, mine was a nightmare, with almost everything wrong with it that could be wrong with one. The bore was excellent, groove measuring .355", it had a good chamber, the bluing was nice and the action was tight. Everything else was in need of attention, and I won't even try to list it all, but I spent a LOT of time learning the innards of the 92 and how everything worked. It eventually became a slick, reliable little machine, but it took a lot of time. I DO believe mine was an anomaly in having so many things wrong, but every problem anyone else mentioned, whatever I read, I had t hat problem too. If I'd known what I was getting into, I'm not sure I'd have given $175 for it, but after many hours of effort, it shined.
All that said, if a fella has one that works, they are the handiest, neatest, most fun gun I've ever had my hands on. It was also the single most USEFUL and PRACTICAL gun I've ever owned. Small game, vermin, varmints, deer and even personal defense, using cartridges most of us already load for, have moulds for, and have discovered the economy and efficiency of, because we likely already have a handgun in the same chambering. FUN tops the list for usefulness without detracting a single little item previously mentioned.
I traded or sold it to my brother. I honestly figured he'd be ready to trade it back in a couple years, because he has that affliction. Mention "trade" and he breaks out in a rash. He seems to get bored with most guns, but not this one! I guess I should have known.
With all the labor behind me, and the education on the 92 irreplaceable, my one beef left is the parts issue. They won't sell parts, which is inherent to supporting something you've imported and sold. Right out of the gate, I tried to get them to send me a new front sight because the bead was cockeyed on the blade. No dice - not without me returning the original one. They wouldn't even accept a photo. Why should I spend money to ship something they're just going to throw away? I declined, removed the bead, did some filing, stoning and soldering to made a patridge-type blade with a brass insert. Far superior sight, but the point... I like t9o be able to get little springs, pins and screws if I lose or possibly damage one. They wouldn't even sell me little things like that without returning the gun. THAT was and is a big deal for me. Even so, it is darned hard to resist these guns.
Best advice I can give is hold your nose and pay the price. Don't let it get away from you.
I'm not bashing Rossi, and don't mean to whine about prices - just my honest reaction based on my experience - ONE user's experience, so take that for what it's worth.
Still, I emphatically stand by my assertion that these guns are the most versatile and useful gun a person could own, even though I am a die-hard bolt-action guy. Mauser, all the way, but I can't rack my Mausers, no matter how old, smooth and slick one might be, or no matter how new and improved any variations thereof may be, anywhere near as fast as I can a slicked up 92. None of my beloved Mausers (or variants) come anywhere close to the compactness and light weight (even my CZ 527s) of a 16" 92.
EDIT: I just looked it up - I ordered the blued, 16" 357 from Robertson's Trading Post in February of 2011 for $419.95. MUCH has happened in the intervening ten years, and these guns have become wildly more popular than they were then, so they cost more and are harder to find.
Also, while I can't say about the 45 Colt, their 357 had (has?) a 1:30" twist. I was able to shoot up to 190 grain RDOs in 38 SPecial cases, but 125s and 158s shot best. 200 grain cast shot sideways out of it. Seemed odd to transition from "OK-shooting" to horrid withing ten grains, but that's what it was.

My first one was a blued 44 mag and I think it cost $450 about 5 years ago. Most I ever paid was $650 for a blued 454. Even the newest stainless 357 mag I got was shy of $600.
The thing is if you want it pay the price, someone will buy it.

With all the 'FREE' government money these days flowing like water, prices are gonna be high on everything, surely we have all noticed by now. Check GB to compare prices, but get one. AND get in contact with Steve's Gunz to lay in a supply of parts and upgrades. I'll be gettin another version next month myself.

I would add too that over the years since I got mine, it SEEMS that their QC has come up a notch or two with the new plant coming online. I don't say this out of personal experience, but from reading what others have shared, and again, mine was an anomaly, I'm certain. The most I've ever paid for a new gun was a Ruger 77/357 a few years ago, at $750. Believe me, THAT gun was an out and out turd. Not trying to define the line or the manufacturer, but THAT gun was horrible. I'd have traded that thing off for another Rossi (which was listed for a lot less) in a minute if there had been Rossis available at the time, but they were sort of scarce for a year or so as they moved production. So, I can't say the price is especially out of line - just painful to see.
