Hello. I'm looking into Docs chest rigs. I've seen where many forum members like the NW Hunter, and High country companion. He also make the Tank rig which is quite different. I like them all. Price goes up pretty quick with any additional tooling, padding, lining, etc. I have a place holder with doc and thinking of going for something different than my typical floral carved collecting.
Just wondering what you suggest. I've never had a chest rig.

I like my Barranti chest rigs, but they are really more like bandoliers, in that they or mine at least tend to slide and effectively become horizontal or inverted and then if you forget to snap your keeper strap or it becomes unsnapped you’ve dropped a gun. They are very comfortable, and well made, but I’m looking at adding a strap to attach to the middle back belt loop or the belt itself to keep the gun positioned as I wish.

Trapr Thank you for feedback. That's exactly what I was wondering about. Every image I've seen shows the rig in a varied position, which could equal versatility or possible annoyance depending on the situation. I have several of Mike's holsters and they are top shelf. My model 44 is at the 6 month mark so hoping it comes up soon. Have another place holder, but figuring what I want this time is tough. His Bar T has been top of my list for a while, so may go that way after all.

I had my FA slide out and hit the ground when I bent over to do something, luckily I was able to check zero and all was ok, but I was still annoyed that I forgot to snap the strap and that the holster had slid around and inverted itself on my body.

Trapr Did you have the waist strap installed or just the shoulder strap? My Northeast Hunter, for scoped revolvers, stays where you adjust it to if I use the waist strap. Without the waist strap, it will slide over time.

I have a couple of Doc's NW Hunter rigs. One, I've used a lot so far, and even though it has a waist strap, it hasn't truly needed it,, UNLESS I'm doing a lot of hands & knees crawling in the mtn laurels after bear dogs. (Don't ask..) But I have carried it on an elk hunt, and in other places & found it to be by far the most comfortable chest rig ever, especially for a larger handgun. My newest one, was made for scoped SA handguns, an d so far hasn't seen as much use,,, (it's newer.) I have a Simply Rugged rig, and a few others,, and I still prefer Doc's rig. I've never tried the Tanker rig, but I also have a High Country I use.
I tried on sixshot's NW Hunter rig several years ago, and that was why I HAD to have one myself. It fits, is comfortable, and holds a SA quite well, even riding ATV's, or crawling on hands & knees. Mine are my "go-to" rigs in general for my bigger handguns. I have some of his belt holsters for other purposes. Top notch.

As with all holsters it appears that all the chest rigs of all types are subject to personal needs, fit, etc. I'm thinking of ordering one or the other.
