As I am planning a few things for the elk trip again this fall and a friend is headed to Yellowstone in a month I remembered this story that I read many years ago. I have no idea where I read it. But it stuck with me. Here is an article and a video (storytelling) that shares the story. youtu.be/nVh8GiuDgQA sportingclassicsdaily.com/mystery-man-killer/ Enjoy.

Thank You for putting this up for us. I very much enjoyed. That the kind of story I remember reading as a boy in magazines. The first name to pop into my head was Finn Aagard. But there is another name, more specific to bear stories, staying just outside the edge of my memory. ? Just awake here, maybe coffee will help.

Coffee in.. Russell Anabell. Fred Asbell also pops into my mind, though him a bowhunter.

I'm thinking I read it in the 80's or 90's in one of the many magazines I had as a kid. I definitely heard of Finn but not Russell Anabell. My brother may know him since he's all in on archery.

I recall reading a bear attack book in Jr.High but cannot recall the name, nor do I recall this story. It is an interesting read, though.

Ben East wrote of this story once along with a good many other such tales.

People that knew Annabel say that his stories were pure fiction based on other peoples experiences. That included Jack O'Connor and Ken Howell.
