Many days now I need to conceal a little deeper so I use a different handgun but this one has traveled many miles with me & I never felt in need.

I do, now and then. My wife has taken a fancy, to my Ruger Bisley, which I’d like to tote, with the .45 ACP cylinder in place, to enable reloading from one of my numerous 1911 magazines. The leading SA candidate for carry, now, is a USFA Single Action “China Camp,” .45 Colt, though I’d rather wait until I take it out, for a re-familiarization session, first, before I rely on it as my “primary” weapon. The only handguns I have live-fired, recently, have been S&W K-Frames. While my ability to place accurate shots, with an SAA-type weapon, is not a particularly perishable skill, and I have been running “dry” drills in the manipulation of my SA sixguns, I prefer to confirm with live fire.
I was a police officer, from 1984 to 2018, on the sometimes-mean streets of Houston, Texas, during which time I was not allowed to tote an SA revolver, for defense of myself or others. I could legally carry any handgun, but PD policy applied 24/7/365. It is nice to now be free of that constraint.
Notably, lightweight, snappy autos have started to really vex my right thumb, hand, and wrist, whether my right hand is acting as the weapon hand, or the support hand. This has led to my favoring handguns, rather than handSguns, with some amount of solid steel heft being a good thing, as it damps recoil. A handSgun, of course, is a weapon that requires two hands for optimum functioning, with the support hand being expected to play a leading role in stabilizing, before and after the shot. The traditional SAA-pattern grip works well as a handgun, enabling such revolvers to be really nice handguns for one-handing shooting, and if the support hand is used, it simply provides supplemental support.

You raise as good an argument as any in favor of the single action----conservation of anatomy. In general, the auto pistol by design has a low bore axis. A low bore axis directs recoil into to the wrist bones. While the slide attenuates the start of recoil, the recoiling slide adds impact at the end of its stroke. A STRAIGHT BLOWBACK pistol is snappier than a DELAYED BLOWBACK pistol. The curved backstrap of a single action attenuates recoil better by incorporating the full inertia of the gun.
Against all that jive, only a serious student of the single action should consider packing one. David Bradshaw

I used to carry a Reeder Bandit model ( LG FM Vaquero 45LC, sheriffs length, bright bluing, lightning brass grip frame, tuned & engraved) I fitted a 45acp cylinder to it and carried it with that in a DeSantis crossdraw but was thinking about an SOB holster made for it. “ Yea sure I’ll get my wallet for ya “! I miss this gun, still pissed I had to sell them all!

I think Ronnie might have something, haven't asked him yet though.

Not sure if that’s who Gary used or not but I prefer it to the different birdshead frames. Although if I were to do another like it myself bc I’ve always loved working on my own guns, I would see what Ronnie has first, then to Sack for grips for it, his stag finish and feel are the best to me or a giraffe bone set made to fit it

I have a pair on my CAS Montados… forget the company that made them before, but they were horrible fit… if RW is making them now, that would definitely be the way to go
