Hello All, I'm looking for a good red dot that won't require me to drill and tap my new to me Clements Custom Ruger Redhawk in 45 colt. EGW makes mounting plates that fit into the rear sight socket for many of the top red dots. I've been intrigued with the SRO with the 1 MOA dot. Thanks in advance for all comments and advice. Boats

I used this setup for a Burris Fast Fire II on my Bisley Hunter for a year or so before it made it's way to David Clements for improvements. I put about 700 full power 44 mags through it that were 240 and 300 grain Hornady XTP's loaded with near max book loads of 296. I also used it on my 44 mag Super Redhawk for a while too. Never had an issue with it at all, never loosened up or anything. Unfortunately I don't remember where I got it. I think a guy on the Ruger forum was making them at the time.

Yetiman, your sight plate looks like a Raptor Engineering plate (https://www.raptor-eng.com/) Unfortunately they had to shut down production due to the wildfires last year and appears are not back up and running yet. I have one of the EGW plates for a Leupold Deltapoint on my Redhawk. It works great and has been solid for I can't count how many full power rounds.

I am using an SRO on my FA83 .475 LB. Prefer it over the RMR. In my opinion, the 1 moa dot if the way to go for hunting. Very precise without washing out the target. Be prepared to shim the mount to get it on target. There is not a lot of elevation adjustment on that sight. FA is smart and offers a SRO/RMR mount on their site pretty cheap. I have tried to no avail to find a mount for my BFR .500 JRH. I will likely have to machine one myself. White tail buck head and FA by WARDOG, on Flickr
