Alaska has a random draw for tags too. I think I like it better than some of the points system states. With tags like sheep and goats there isn't enough turnover in the top points pool to ever get through all the applicants. It works better for tags like deer and elk where they have a lot more tags and move through the pools of people much quicker. Once you start having to have 15-20 years or more worth of points saved up for a tag its not worth it to me any more. Odds are in Alaska you'll never draw a tag, yet I've drawn a few over the years. Two mountain goats, elk, and a Kodiak brown bear. Three of those were drawn this year or last!
