With just a couple of days left in turkey season, I managed to finally get me a bird. I didn't weigh him, but his beard is 9-1/2" with spurs just over 1" long. Sadly, NC doesn't allow the use of handguns for turkey,, so I used a shotgun.

BUT TEXAS DOES REQUIRE SHOES.

I did turkey hunt in Tx long ago with a handgun. Took a Tom at 85 yds with a Contender. Loved doing it!
I usually go barefoot as much as I can get away with. Where I was at,, it was "easy" for me. No poison oak or ivy around. It plays havoc with my ankles & legs. I always get a lot of "comments" from a lot of folks about going barefoot. Just today, I went into the local grocery store, and a woman said; "Now that's a Florida look!" To which I replied; "No ma'am, it's a hillbilly look!"
I don't want to flirt with the NC Wildlife laws about using a .410 shotshell in my T/C. It'd be my luck to get a warden who'd write me a ticket. And my livelihood is dealing with wildlife, and if I get a ticket, my license gets suspended.

Actually Mr Taffin shoes are still optional here, However my Right ankle and my Left foot both sport a couple of deep scars that look like pits in the skin due to this fascinating long critter called a rattlesnake which i unfortunately have had a couple of bouts with in my youth! Neither were pleasant at all and they did tend to remind me to throw some leather around my paws before going out. Hahahaha.

ME TOO ALMOST ALWAYS BAREFOOT AT LEAST IN THE HOUSE. WENT TO BUCKHORN GUN THIS WEEK AND WAS IN THE P.U. BEFORE I REALIZED NO SHOES. I SPENT MOST OF MY LIFE IN BOOTS BUT NOW THE FEET REBEL AND I ONLY WEAR MOCASSINS WHEN NEEDED.

John, I'm guessing the gang over at Buckhorn like seeing you, shoes or no shoes! Just so you have your wallet.

Moccasins are super comfortable. But I wear them out as the ones I used were suede leather, not hard bottomed. I need to get another pair or two.

Glue and or sew some holster weight leather to the bottom. It greatly increases the wear, and wearability of them. Remember moccasins are just a glorified way of going bearfooted.
