Hi fellas,
I put adjustable sights on my Desert Eagle and was sighting it in. I was shooting high and KEPT shooting high. Then i noticed my elevation screw kept loosening itself. Not sure how to fix this. I have a spare elevation screw, so I was gonna try that. Maybe a drop of blue loctite on the threads to add some friction as it turns?
I don't know if this matters but the roll pin that the sight pivots on kept wiggling out, so I bent the end slightly to stop this.
I have some spare parts because the rear sight got dinged on my safe. It worked but was unsightly. I bought a new one to replace the sight face that was dinged and to try the different roll pin. Solved one problem and a new one arises... Dang Murphy's Law!

I'd try a piece of fishing line, inserted in the hole, add the screw, tighten down, and use a lighter to melt away the tail. Works like a "nylock" type of friction hold.

I had forgotten the old fishing line trick. Good call Contender. I bet this works.

Plumbers tape is VERY thin. It'd take a lot of tape, and it's a PAIN to try & wrap such a small screw.
Surely you can find a friend who fishes, and get a foot or so of Mono line. Heck, a trip to a wally world or a flea market can yield a cheap spool of line. There are other good uses for fishing line too.

Good call, I'm gonna get a little bit of line from them and try this out. Thank you again, kind sir!

There are several ways to help keep a screw in place. Another is nail polish, ...preferrably clear nylon.

That is the most genius thing I have heard in a long time. I never would have thought about it in a million years. Now if I can just remember it when I need to, that would be even better! Darned good information!
