Overventilation. Put some duct tape on it and it will be fine. That stuff will buff out. LOL.

Bwa-ha-ha..!!!
I actually have repairs on mine, with black masking tape where strikes have chipped the light wells.

LOL! before I saw the picture I thought, mine showed an error code when I blasted the screen with unburned kernels of AA4350! Not a bullet, just stick powder! Of course... it was 5 shots of it before it died completely.

I did that "once" it's only the 3rd hole that's messing you up... a classic case of over penetration

I'm on my second Competition Electronics chrono. Shot the first one, sent it in and they replaced needed parts for half price of a new one. Shot that one so I bought a new one.😢

Buy a LabRadar. Problem solved. Yeah, with a $1K tripod! Nah. It’s nice though. Probably one of the nicest I’ve seen for the LabRadar for what we do. Never missed a shot and out of the way. I think they are like $160 shipped or something like that

YOU WOULD THINK THAT FOR $100 CHRONY COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE THEM BULLET PROOF. MY CHRONY TOOK A HIT, BUT NOT FATAL.

Honestly I am a little relieved that I finally put a hole in that Chrony. I have had it for 20 years and it has been a pain in the ass since day one. The difficult to read display, the nonsensical error codes that aren't listed in the manual and it generally deciding if it wants to work that day. I had a deep seated hate for that thing and many times I wanted to throw it into the pond or shoot it repeatedly with my Benelli M4. The LabRadar seems to have mixed reviews and it is likely our of my price range.

Close to 30 years ago, Dad shot his chrony with 335 wfn LBTs working them up. He got the parts from Chrony to fix it a d it gave several years of service until I shot it, with the same 335 wfn. I hated shooting it a d immediately bought a new one to replace it. Couldn't help but appreciate the irony.
