My Dad died in Jan and my mother was hell bent on getting rid of his STUFF. She decided to move to my sisters. We got a dumpster, sold off the tractor, furniture, beds. gave away or sold reloading equipment and some guns. Primers, brass, bullets, dies, powder, ammo. You know. STUFF. He was a ruger fan so there were one or two 3 screws from the 70’s. Unadulterated. I loaded everything else I could in my truck and brought it someplace else. Dumpster is full of $4-7k of other stuff my mother tossed. Including her brand new passport. She just started tossing everything. Fishing gear, old tools, filing cabinets, pictures, clothing etc. she decided she isnt moving yesterday . So I am on my way to buy mom a new living room set. Ahhh, parents. He left me his Ruger Old Army too

Entirely too much. We're smack in the middle of moving from NC to MO & uggh. No fun. We rented a 12 yd dumpster a couple years ago & filled half of it just throwing stuff out of the attic window above it.
I was raised by grandparents who'd been dirt poor farm kids during the Depression & have the hardest time throwing anything away that has any value or usefulness. That said, I will gladly give away stuff we no longer need/use to family & friends who can use it.
I'd like to say we're downsizing, but as we're about to move into our 3800 sq ft retirement/forever home on 5.5 wooded acres, I strongly suspect our accumulation has only just begun.

I had to move my mother and brother into my house 3 years ago. When I cleaned her house out I filled two huge construction dumpsters with stuff I wasn’t bringing to my house due to smoke.😡😡😡 It took me 3-4 trips with a 16’ trailer and truck loads. I basically filled a 30x50 shop with just stuff. I’m still sorting thru now. I sold a lot of duplicate and guns I had no interest in, sold a bass boat and three vehicles.
I’m trying to wind down my stuff so my kids never have to deal with that mess.

At 77, and in the same house for 35 years, I have WAY WAY too much stuff. Including projectile throwers. Come see me. Bring money. This sounds like a garage sale no one on this forum would want to miss.

I for sure have too much stuff, but it's what I have. A guy I work with keeps telling me to get rid of it all. I say "If I get rid of my stuff, I'll have nothing." I mean that more literally than he knows.

Ask Steve about "stuff" given that he went through a fire. Maybe he'll chime in. I've got something better than all my "stuff" anyway.

Wow. Surprised at all the replies. Must have struck a chord. My ball caps are now down to 2. Yes 2. I had a small garage sale at the old house to get rid of some pictures/paintings and furniture with surprisingly few knick-knacks. I am selling 2 sets of golf clubs - I quit playing. And I am still unpacking at the new house and STILL throwing stuff to the curb. I have 2 nice stereos that Momma says are not to be used in the den or master for movies anymore so my garage/shop and study will be rocking soon. I just want ro finish unpacking the shop so I can start on my study. Both safes in one room so not a whole lot of space and it is currently jam packed with boxes

I lived in my old farmhouse for 20 years. When I got divorced, I told the X you can have everything in the house except my cast iron cookwear and all of my outdoor gear. I kept the stuff in the garage. Best move I ever made. Started fresh and new with a minimalist attitude and didn't have to store all the years of accumulated stuff. Currently living in a 750 square foot cabin and LOVE it!!. The only thing I collect now are memories and miles. Whether on foot hiking, chasing beagles running hare or horseback. Life is GOOD!

GETTING READY FOR A ROOM REMODEL SO HAD TO MOVE GUN MAGS OFF A SAFE, HATED TO DO IT, BUT A BUNCH OF 20 - 30, AND SOME 30+, YEAR OLD AMERICAN HANDGUNNER MAGAZINES GOT TRASHED. KEPT THE ANCIENT SIXGUNNER's AND THE RIFLE & HANDLOADER MAGS.
WAS ALSO LOOKING FOR SOME TC'ed 300gr CAST BULLETS, FOUND 2 BIG METAL FOLGERS COFFEE CANS FULL OF 9mm BRASS, A FEW HUNDRED 9mm FMJ BULLETS, AND A LOT OF 20th CENTURY CAST BULLETS, ALL OF WHICH I AM UNLIKELY TO EVER USE. ALSO HAVE A LOT OF 45acp BRASS AND BULLETS. DO NOT KNOW WHY I KEEP SEMI-AUTO BRASS AND BULLETS AROUND, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HARDLY EVER SHOOT SEMI-AUTOS AND HAVE PLENTY OF FACTORY AMMO ON HAND. HARD TO GET PART WITH STUFF, EVEN HARDER TO GET RID OF GUN STUFF.
