I traded into a Bergara B-14 HMR Wilderness 300 Win Mag and the previous owner kept the brake he had on the gun, so I’m brake shopping. What works for you 30 cal mag shooters with heavy bullets?

I have an old KDF style brake on a 300mag it turns it into a 243. It’s slightly larger diameter than the barrel so it looks good as well.

+1 for the KDF. I had one on a 7mm Rem Mag way back installed by Brown Precision. Tamed it down, but it was LOUD!

APA does well. Terminator brakes are amazing.

I saw a really good review a while back that compared a number of them for a number of things. In searching, i found the following one. www.pewpewtactical.com/best-ar-15-muzzle-brakes/Which has some good info, but isn't the one i was recalling. It has links to really good comparisons done by Jeremy s at ttag (the truth about guns); but those aren't the ones either. I'll look again; but there are sone grest comparisons out there.

On my 338-378 the old Gentry brake does wonders for the big rifle.

I don’t have a problem with them. I use ear pro regardless so it doesn’t change anything for me hunting.

The range is where they are a problem mostly. Benches are usually fairly close together and the rearward blast and enhanced noise is a pain for other shooters, especially if under a roof. I have been next to brakes that closed the steel lid on my tool box that I propped open to deflect some of the blast,,, didnt work.
