I have been to Wilderness Hunting Lodge in TN and another ranch in OK in the past. Does anyone have any recommendations for a hunting operation for the normal guy? I can’t afford places like the 777 etc. I have gotten out of my paid deer leases and am looking for somewhere for a weekend with friends to shoot a hog or something. Maybe even something big.
I’m in Arkansas, No operations around here.

Good Luck BUT in my 80+ years I have found most folks can afford exactly what they want to afford. How much money have I had available because I never smoked or drank? How many times have I heard "I can't afford it" from a guy driving a $60,000 pickup. I'm still driving a '97 Chevy 4 x 4. I've also lived in the same house for over 50 years so no house payments. So there are four areas which do not drain my availability of money. What amazes me the most is someone riding around in pickup luxury says he has to quit shooting because shooting glasses are too expensive. Also consider this: whatever you spend on a hunt will not be missed six months down the road. In 1994 I went to Africa, took eight animals, and spent less than I would have on the good used pickup. The only reason I never went back as the plane ride. Now for me planes do not even exist.

JT, this is exactly what my old man told us when we whined about not having enough money or not having the time to do things. He would simply say, "you can always find the time to do the things you WANT to do and always find the money to buy the things you really WANT." Pretty basic really. The plane ride to Africa is in a word horrible! I have done it 8 times and was all set to go last year, when the Wu Flu hit, and that queered that deal! I wont go again unless and until things get back to normal, if they ever do. Flying under the best of conditions just plain sucks, but under these conditions with all the extra steps? Fugettaboutit!
