Got this Taurus 431 .44 Special off GB. Really nice little gun, great blueing, locks up tight, and the trigger is excellent in both DA/SA. Should be a fine trail gun.

How is that recoil wise? I had a Charter Bulldog Classic in .44 special and it was pretty stout with the small wood grips.

Posted this when I first got the CA. 180gr Barnes ….… 1,195 fps (21 es) 230gr HSM …….… 1,145 fps (28 es) 230gr Underwood .. 1,263 fps (18 es) 250gr Grizzly …….. 1,169 fps (4 es) The Underwood 230gr had the most recoil and the 180gr Barnes the least. Didn’t put any on paper, but the 180gr Barnes hit the 25 yd plate with a 6 O’Clock hold, all the rest hit quite a bit higher. Recoil is reasonably manageable – less than .357 Mags in both S&W 360 PD & Ruger LCR. Didn’t seem as snappy as .44 mags in the 329 PD. Trigger finger not impacted but base of thumb and web of hand received moderate impact. HSM offers a “Cowboy” load that is actually fun to shoot. I've since picked up a Taurus Titanium 415. Velocity is pretty much the same as the CA shown above. However, felt recoil is less vs the CA (grips and ports), the SA/DA action is nicer and it's a couple of oz lighter. Paul

Here is my DW 744 with snub barrel, but would my 7445 with a 4" barrel qualify as a SuperMag snub?

I do... I do... My 480 Ruger Alaskan, with a "monster" possum... only things bigger, are the JRH converted 500's or the "bear medicine" 500 S&W...
