Oh I have another submission. I have an old as heck Tor-Rey meat grinder with a short throat or possibly called a neck or a funnel) and a 3/4 horse low gear drive motor. It is wonderful for grinding meat and stuffing sausage cause you can NOT bog it down, but believe me, I am SOBER and ALERT every time I use it!

I've since passed it on to a young friend, but a Husqvarna 281-XP chainsaw. Commercial grade extra power 81cc saw. Came to me used with a 32" bar but can take to 36". I bought it to drop 2 big oaks here. My Stihl 026 was just looking kinda small for the job ! We got 4 cords of firewood from the limbs of the larger tree. It has a better than home owners type anti-kick back saw chain. It was more than I wanted to wrestle around for normal for me kinda cutting here or at camp. Its big enough to use with one of those portable mill tools. Those are neat..

I have a 1/2 in Black& Decker that has hurt me more than once, it has [NO] provision for a side handle, and it should. Yesterday my big angle grinder put a 3 in hole in my jeans right at the pocket level. I carry a small aspirin bottle in that pocket that saved my leg. Maybe you need a pair of chain saw chaps. As if I should talk...I have a several chain saws but no chaps to go with them.

I know I should just be more careful around things that can hurt me. Sometimes you don't think there is any possible way to get hurt, till you do, sometimes I'm just hardheaded . Still have all my fingers and toes but, a fine collection of scars also .The only way to not have scars and memories is to never try or never do. At 68 I haven't stopped trying and doing yet. The 30 yr old brain and 68 year old body don't always agree on what I can and can't, should and shouldn't do.

When a buddy's father was laid off in the shipyards at the end WW 2 he decided to go fishing for living ,we kids got to build the lobster traps. He built a saw rig 14 inch rip to cut green white oak powered by single cylinder gas engine in the barn cellar, all leather drive belts, boy did that thing sing. As kids we were not allowed around the saws. He was selling enough traps and parts so as his traps were free. After a couple of months his oak was getting dry and becoming harder to cut, The saw grabs a 42 inch 1x3 of oak thru a 1 inch internal door, then makes it 1/2 way thru 1 inch barnboard covered with cedar shingles at about twenty feet from the saw. We a little later got the comment "see why you kids stay away". Later that year we got to help build his boat in the barn, things were good those years. Have a nice day Don K

Speaking of cutting wood and leather belts... Anyone else remember the old "table saws" that ran off a belt drive on a tractor and you laid your fire wood on a "table" then pushed it forward into a 3 1/2 foot circle saw blade?
I got to see my Dad use it ONCE. Danged thing gave me the "heebie-geebies" just watching it work. 6 million ways to die and that thing had half of them already built in!

Grandpa cut firewood to sell and used one of those tractor buzz saws as well. Us kids were not allowed around when that thing was running!

yup... those long flat belts were dangerous enough... then add a toothy 24" - 36" saw blade usually without any guards & the ability to chuck a good sized fireplace log 50 ft into the air if things got sticky... seems just about every other farm around here had one... still see them on farm auctions around here all the time... couple years ago I bought MRS a restored 1940's Farmall Super C wide front tractor for her to drive around, & go to the tractor rides with... it's got a belt pulley on it, if I ever felt the need to endanger myself, & put her tractor to work...

I'm all for working smarter not harder. At 55 I appreciate craftsmen who I can pay for certain things but they are few and faaaar between. That being said sometimes the only way to make it happen is to add more amps, pressure, speed, or prayers.

I got to see my Dad use it ONCE. Danged thing gave me the "heebie-geebies" just watching it work. 6 million ways to die and that thing had half of them already built in! My grandad had a buzzsaw I was totally fascinated with. He wouldn't let me anywhere near it. I had a 10" Atlas jointer that I converted from belt drive to electric, was probably 80-100 years old. One day after having used it for 3 or 4 years I was running a chunk of oak for a keelson on it when the drum broke and the whole thing exploded. It threw the knives into low earth orbit, never to be seen again, and I only found half of the drum. The bed was peeled back like a banana and the piece of oak shattered. My only injury was slivers from the wood. Had to sit down for a couple minutes after that one. Eric

That guy MURPHY LAW comes around more than Santa Clause, and he LOVES power tools! Say a special thanks to the ANGEL that sits on your other shoulder when he comes around.

Ironically the 3 hp Uni-Saw just BARELY kissed the busted knuckle of the right thumb today as a subtle reminder to never relax around things that spin fast with sharp teeth.
