I have come into a GLOCK 22 .40cal., my first Glock, thought I would sell it or trade it off but thinking about keeping it. I have noticed that I can get a 9mm barrel. I have a bunch of 9mm and only a box of 40 cal. I have a Jericho 941 / 41AE, so I’m thinking; Do I really need to get into 40. Would like to hear your Experience, Ideas, Thoughts, Opinions.

Absolutely...
The 40 S&W is a fine cartridge. Getting bashed now, but that's what writers are paid to do, sell guns.

Ask if any of those "writers" would chance being shot with one.

I purchased a G22 Gen4 to be a switch-barrel gun. Have the original 40 cal plus Lonewolf 9mm and 40 S&W stainless barrels and a Bear Creek .357 Sig barrel. They all shoot great! Since this is a multi-purpose multi-caliber pistol I added LPA sights. Very nice package and a wider range of available ammo options.

At one time I owned several Glocks but the most versatile was a Glock 23 Gen 3. After t tuned the trigger and shootability/cosmetic changes, and sights I purchased a conversion barrel from KKM Precision to shoot 9mm. Used the same guide rod/spring, extractor, and ejector. It was accurate, reliable, simple barrel swap, and I tried to break it but it just kept going. The first time out I shot 500 rounds as fast as I could go using 3 Glock 19 Magazines, 2 Glock 17 Magazines, and the 33 round Glock 9mm Mag. After shooting those I'd fill them back up and go again. No jams, failures etc. To say the least it got hot but it was accurate at 15 yards. I carried it until I got a CZ75B, at that point I traded it for an FN SLP Semi auto 12 gauge shotgun.I had a total of $550 +/- in the gun and accessories plus the at least 5 of the 9mm Mags & 5-6 .40S&W Mags. The man I traded with felt good about it and so did I. The KKM barrel may cost more but it is worth it.

While I generally incline toward 9mm, there’s nothing wrong at all about a G22 in .40. Plus, as you mentioned, the versatility of swapping for a 9mm barrel/magazines is pretty sweet. There was a ton of LE trade-in 22s out there for a while and thought about picking one up for that very reason, but figured I already had a small congregation of Glocks in the house.
The G22 was plenty good for dang near every law enforcement department for a long time - I’m sure it will serve you well.

Mine contains within a .357 Sig barrel. Sweet Cartridge in my opinion.

I have a former SCHP 2nd Gen G22. Bought it as a personal tribute to two of my uncle's who were former SCHP officers. One still living, the other has passed on. I replaced the dead night sights for new and it is one fine shooting 40.

I picked up one of the G3 G22 police trade ins before the "pandemic" shortage mania set in. It didn't look like it had ever been issued. No holster wear and the tritium night sights still work. Also added the offered 9mm conversion barrel/mag as part of a package deal. Got rid of a well worn G17 police trade in acquired earlier but kept the extra glock 9mm mags. Found a advantage arms 22 conversion unit. Versatile set up that shoots better than I thought it would with all three calibers.
FWIW,
Paul

I have a Glock M27 and I love it. Plus I have an XDm in 40 S&W too. Nothing wrong at all with the caliber. A 1911 in one would be nice but I like Glocks too. Unless I had to get rid of it I would keep it.

Figure the LE trade-ins recycle into good home defense, bump in the night, guns.

Had these out Friday. Mostly shooting 22s, but finished off the day with the .40 S&W. The Advantage Arms 22 conversion has been 100% reliable. I haven't weighed the G22 w/22 conv, but it is extremely light. The k22 is always a delight to shoot.

Shop had deals on police turn in 22 and 23s. Put 9mm barrels in them all. G35 got a 357 SIG barrel. I like it!
