I ordered a laminate for a straight stock set for an 1895 Marlin. They say that they are a bolt on unit. Even though it’s laminate, I think I’ll seal the inner parts totally with a wood hardener. Anyone change these out, how did they actually fit?

I did a swap for my fiancé’s 336, it was trouble free as I recall.

Just a follow up on installing the Boyd’s stock. A bit of inletting, took about 45 minutes. Not bad at all. It took longer to create a big loop lever for the straight stock , out of a SS pistol grip lever. Clamped it in a vice with the stock lever, pinned thru the pivot. Heated it up, used a dolly and hammer to shape it to fit the rifle, water quenched for strength. Then took a die grinder and mini barrel sanders, totally rounded all the in and outside edges, then scotch brighted it to look factory. Upgraded the sights, just need to fit a recoil pad, and time to shoot it.

I bought this set from Numrich Arms years ago. Pretty sure Boyds made them, but I can't confirm that: They fit really well. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Those grey/black stocks are classic and just look seamless. I picked up a set for custom 1895 built by john Linebaugh in 500 Linebaugh. They look good on a blued gun as well. I did add a Stainless big loop lever and SS forend cap, and am upgrading the sights, as I would like to keep it open, with no scope. I know John did NOT enjoy creating this rifle, so it may be the only one of its creators kind. Very nice to walk around with a Rifle/Pistol combo in 500 Linebaugh.

bearskinner...that is some impressive work!!
Lee...Marlin should have put those laminated stocks on all the stainless rifles...really looks great and must better weather protection than walnut...
Only Marlin I have with one of those stocks in a 1894SS-LTD 16.5" .41 Magnum...
