I saw this a few days ago and have been waiting for some opinions on Uberti 1885s in general. I was surprised not to find a mention of this one on here, but figured I wasn't the only one that would be interested. I'm kind of liking the .303 Brit option over the .45-70. Well thought out that it comes with both a Weaver rail for those that want a modern scope and a traditional sight plate for those that don't want it.

I've yet to find one. But, when I do, I will add it to the battery...

I don’t know if it’s the image,or if it actually is that big but the round pistol grip puts me off. Other than that I think it’s very nice,...and any classic rimmed round would be great in it.

The pic rail and the bag grip kill it for me

The pic rail was a bit much, but figured you’d never really see what it was with an optic on it.

Looks looks they were mirroring the newer Wyoming Ballards.

They sell an optional sight rail without the pic for those not liking the look, I dont either. Have seen a couple go thru GB but just havent been able to fully embrace one for the cost. I have already an original London Small Arms Enfield Sporter in .303 so certainly have no need of another .303.

Good looking rifle. That old school stock design looks like it would be painful to shoot with big .45-70's. Cartridge choice I suppose depends on what you want to do with it. Regarding the .303 B cartridge, I would be curious to know if the throat is profiled for the heavy 215 grn round nose or the 170'ish grain spitzers, and what the barrel twist is. As far as falling blocks in .45-70, my taste is with the Ruger No 1's. I can load a Saturn V rocket in the chamber and I don't have to worry about it being too much. Something else to consider given the world shortage on ammo, is get a rifle chambered for the cartridges you have in the closet.
