Just goofing off today and decided to pull out my Pachmayr Dominator and pop off a few shots.
The 350gr Sierras are 1-3/4" long so obviously they won't fit in a revolver, but they work fine in the Dominator.
With 19.0gr of Re7 the 350's flew 1250fps. 28.0gr of Re7 200gr Sierra FP 1800fps 27.0gr of Re7 220gr Hornady FP 1700fps 27.5gr of Re7 225gr Hornady Spitzer 1740fps
That's with a 14" barrel. These loads are likely too hot for a revolver plus I had the bullets seated longer than can fit in a SuperMag cylinder.

Ever try A1680? In a Dan Wesson I have used many rounds loaded with full compressed cases of A1680 under a 220 grain Hornady. Wonderful fireballs at dusk and very good accuracy. Accurate's manual even shows using it in the full length 375 Winchester case and the same bullet (w/ full case loads).
With the 350 grain bullet it looks like you could even have a subsonic load pretty easily. Do they still make this conversion?

I use 1680 in my 375 Winchester but haven't tried it yet in the SuperMag.
No, they don't make the conversion any more. I seriously doubt that Pachmayr even made them to begin with. My guess is they sub'd it out to someone else, but I could be wrong.

I'd not been aware that that kind of performance could be had from that round. How is recoil with that grip frame for you ? Hunt with it ?

We (my brother and I) did take the 375 Dan Wesson moose hunting here in NH back in 1998. I was picked (in the lottery) but the agreement was he would shoot it (partner is allowed to shoot w/ the tag holder). Didn't even bring a rifle, and the primary weapon was his compound bow. Long story short; I only upholstered the gun once while he shot the 600# bull broadside @ about 35 yards. Was just before sundown; 6 hours later moose in truck! Long evening. Arrow completely penetrated through chest cavity, clipped the liver and both lungs and cut a rib off on the far side before dropping out on the ground. Big dumb thing just stared at us for 20 seconds with blood pumping out of him both sides then turned and ran the wrong way (away from the truck) up into the woods at least 150 yards. Laid down and died; total bleed out.

I have parts for a 375 FUW upper for my ARs. It’s very similar to a rimless 375 SM using 6.8 SPC cases as the base. I came up with the idea , and my very talented friend Moleman made the reamer, dies and barrel. He made himself one which he hunts deer with up in Michigan under their straight wall cartridge limitations.

"How is recoil with that grip frame for you ?” ----bula
*****
Browning’s 1911 was designed around the .45 ACP. Leastwise in my hand, grip conformation is unsuited to heavy recoil. Low bore axis of Dominator accentuates recoil, especially at high velocity. A hunter can get away with more recoil than a competitor on the firing line for one or two hours. I suspect the Dominator in 7-08 (referred to by James from Jersey) delivers sharper recoil than the .375 Super Mag. A good center-grip or rear-grip stock on a Remington XP-100 or Wichita bolt action saves hand, wrist, and elbow the kind of pain the same cartridge inflicts through an auto pistol grip.
This does not diminish accuracy available from a Dominator, but certainly ones cumulative round count. David Bradshaw

Tony, that’s pretty impressive velocity with a 350gr bullet, it’s moving faster than I would have imagined. If you have any of the Makers 175gr copper bullets for you 375 SOCOM they get humping pretty fast with H110 (2300fps in 16” barrel). Create about a 1 1/4” trifecta of doom down to 1400fps I believe. I need to read up on posting pics.

I had a 308 briefly, but couldn’t get decent accuracy. So it moved down the road, I’m guessing g it was F’ed with since it came to me with a cheap muzzle brake attached and a crappy 1911 frame. Kinda wish I still had it, but my XP does quite well.
