Ronnie sent me panels cut from walnut which came from Lee Jurras' estate. This #5 flattop will soon be done. The parts came back from being CCH'd and blued. I'll post the whole thing once it's together. I just need to sand and polish the brass backstrap. Ronnie's stabilized wood is a joy to work with. I knocked the width down with 220 grit and medium sanded with 600 grit. I did add a heavy coat of tung oil to darken the wood. From there I buffed each with white rouge compound. No wet sanding was required after the oil coat. All of that buffs out to a glass like finish. I'm really impressed with how smooth stabilized wood is post buffing: PS - next time I'll remember to wipe off the fingerprints before photographing. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

It's done. Here's a quick recap: • RDW original #5 gripframe • Ronnie supplied the wood which came from Lee Jurras' estate • Case hardening and bluing by Wyoming Armory (http://www.wyomingarmory.com/cch.html). I highly recommend these guys. They did the job in just over 30 days and their price was shockingly low. About 1/3 what many others charge for similar work. • Power Custom Bisley hammer and standard Blackhawk trigger • Belt Mountain #5 basepin • Trigger worked to 2.5 lbs -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Dang it! I really like that Lee. Those brass grip frames are starting to make me nervous.

Beautiful work (as usual), Lee. I had two similar base guns. Both had noticeable thread choke in the barrels. Have you checked this one?

Do you slug the barrel and just feel if its getting tighter before it exits, or do you use some kind of plug gauge and compare each end of the barrel?
