After last year, we all need a good one this year! What's everyone's hunting plans for this year? I'm thinking about some exotic rams this year. Maybe one will even end up horn grip material for Zane to work me up a set. Texas Dall maybe? I've also decided I have to shoot a Watusi, thanks to Max.

I hope to take my S-I-L in a guided elk hunt in Colorado where I took my youngest son a few years ago. If it happens then I will have taken all three guys on hunts so maybe I can start saving to go on a hunt myself before I can not get around.

I GET TO DO PLENTY OF YEAR ROUND HOG HUNTING AT MY RANCH, AND AM STILL WHITETAIL HUNTING (UNTIL END OF FEBRUARY) AT MY SOUTH TEXAS DEER LEASE. I WOULD LIKE TO GET TO ALASKA IN MAY-JUNE TO HUNT BLACK BEAR OVER BAIT BUT THAT MAY BE A LITTLE EARLY BECAUSE OF COVID, A LOT DEPENDS ON WHETHER GEORGE FAERBER AND I ARE BOTH VACCINATED, AND GEORGE CAN GET THE BAITS GOING.
MORE IMPORTANT THAN A SPECIAL HUNT IS THAT I NEED TO GET THE MRS. OUT OF THE HOUSE AND ON THE ROAD FOR A WELL DESERVED BREAK FROM COVID ISOLATION.

That is the key for me is the key to getting to do anything fun. Covid came through our house and everyone except my 13yo son tested positive. We all came through just fine with mild symptoms but now that we are over it and "immune" she is really itching to go somewhere warm. There are some fantastic travel deals out there right now but it is so unclear what travel you can and can not do. Weird times but get past that and I have a bunch of fishing and hunting trips that need to start happening again...

I got diagnosed with it in January, then got it again in October. It's like a flu. You don't develope any immunity.

I still want to take a eastern elk. I will put in for TN and KY tags again. Turkey hunting. Quest for the world record eastern by muzzleloader. (I know where he lives after 3 years of chasing him.) Deer deer and more deer. I hope to be able to break loose and go handgun hogging this spring. Possibly a Maine beer hunt.

I figured by now it would be safe to make plans but everything is still up in the air. My original plan was elk this year. I've also wanted to go to Maine for moose and/or black bear but all that may have to wait.

A local deer for the freezer.
Have dogs, will travel. After hare and or cottontail. South Carolina, Vermont, and NY are all on the list for now

I plan to go up north in March and not see any coyotes. Then back up in May and not see any turkeys. Back up in October and November and maybe see a deer.
